I'm a total and complete failure, ever since Sept 2010. I haven't given up - just had a ginormous backslide & digging out of this hole is proving to be a huge PIA ;(

I didn't have any goals for 2013 until July 24th. Then I crashed and had to have C1 & C2 fused. After 2 surgeries and 8 days in the hospital my goal became to ride again before the season was over. In November I rode 3 rail-trail rides and a road ride before the weather closed in.

I had two simple goals. Hit 175 lb, and complete a century. I failed the first, loosing a net 10 lb for the year. Still a bit of a victory of sorts since I had lost 75 lb over the previous three years, and managed to keep that off. The second I failed on the first attempt, as it involved 6200 ft of climbing, and I was still at 210 in October (and still am now) I succeeded the second attempt, as that one had only 2200 ft climbing.

For this year.
170-180 lb by July.
190 by 3/8/14 (Solvang Century-6k+ climbing)
Solvang Century in under 7 hr moving time.
Meet fundraising goal for Pedal the Cause in October. ($2500)
5000 miles
Totally avoid driving the car to work.

Bummer. Wife and I are planning Hawaii in Oct, and I would very much like to get a ride in.

2013 goal was to complete a metric century. Got two of them in, though my total miles dropped this year due to second shift job. I'm going to try for a full century in 2014.

2013 wasn't the best year on the bike. Lots of big events in my life. Some good and some bad, but all seemed to get in the way of my riding. I had planned a couple weekend tours that didn't happen. I also planned to race in the local monthly TT, but again....just seemed something got in the way.

Weight - I had hoped to drop 10, but gained 5 instead. I've had some knee issues of late and just got cortizone injections. Needless to say I am slightly frustrated.

Interesting season highlight...weight was up a little and I didn't feel as fit, but on an annual 30 mile fundraiser race, I finshed with an average speed of just over 20mph...which is up from the last couple of years.. Go figure....

A mixed bag, but generally disappointing.
Mileage down - goal was 2000+, ended the year around 1800
Weight - wanted to become a clydesdale emeritus, and was not successful
Two back pain incidents - currently working with Chiropractor to (hopefully) strengthen back and core to prevent future occurrences
Goal of back to back centuries as the local MS weekend - made day one, rained out of a shortened day two. Day one was 95 degrees and windy, caused a scaling back of day two goal
Three bike rebuilds - lots of fun doing them, especially the ones for son and his wife

I have dubbed 2013 "The year of the flat". My last four rides all had flatting issues, causing me to send my companions ahead on one of our group rides (2 flats in 10 miles), culminating with last Saturday, flatting in the first quarter mile. This was with new tires that had held pressure for over a month while hanging on the hooks in the garage. Not sure where the bad karma came from, but I am ready for that chapter to be finished.

2014 - goals to regroup, get stronger, continue serious base building, and get leaner.

Happy new year everyone

Goals realized: RAGBRAI, Copper Triangle and riding the Western TA. Unrealized: Didn't make the 4000 mile mark (3300). No double century. And weight goal unrealized. So 2014 goals are those final 3 items.

The only goal I had for 2013 was to keep riding. I finished the year with 3620 miles, and for 2014 I have set of goal of 6500 miles

My goal was to beat 2012, which I did, but considering that 2012, was under 25km, beating that wasn't hard. I don't have final numbers on 2013 yet, most of it was on the laptop, which had a problem, it should be back from the shop tomorrow.....
