N+1 Strikes Again

I had no intention of acquiring another ride this year....but.....a friend of mine told me recently about a tri-bike he had seen at an lbs in Sarasota. An Aegis with a carbon fiber frame, totally reconditioned by the store mechanic including Ultegra gears, some Cane Creek components, Mavic Wheels, new brakes, chain etc etc. He also said he couldn't find a scratch on it. I asked him to send some pics and fell in love with it. The shop wanted $600, I offered 5 and got it! Going to FLA to ride for a week next month then my riding buddy will bring it back with him in April.

When I told my wife she said "what the f---k do you need another bike for?" So I had to explain in detail the N+1 equation and when i finished, she sighed and said "have fun with it". So I'm excited to see and ride it, at 65 years of age I won't be doing any triathlons but from what my friend says she rides smooth and shifts like butter so soon I will see for myself. Knowing nothing counts without a picture, hopefully the link below will work.

OMG, that bike is Hawt with a capital W! I hope you assured your wife that it was a real bargain. Women are impressed if you buy something on sale, even if it's expensive and you don't really need it.

Are all your other Bikes also Road bikes and this is another one?

No, one is a hybrid and one is a touring bike but basically yes. I want a cyclocross, but when this came up I just couldn't resist, may have to shed one or two in the spring as I am also restoring an old Peugeot (early '80s vintage) and I store an old 18 sod Huffy mountain type bike in New Orleans for my annual trips there.

I did emphasize that the frame alone was worth more than the purchase price. It helped.

When I get a new bike my wife says; "MY TURN!". Then no more new bike for me.
Nice bike, enjoy it!

But this is not a road bike, it's a tri-geek bike. ;) Enjoy!

Whatever... you are not plowing snow with it..

I just usually ask the wife how many pairs of shoes can she wear at once and that usually ends the conversation.

Nice bike. If you can afford it and not borrowing to buy nothing wrong with buying.

You could have told her that you had a matching set of [road] shoes and [saddle] bag that needed something to go with...:D
