u did what on super bowl ?
so the weather was nice so early sunday I went for a ride. weather was good so I just kept riding and riding. got home by the middle of 3rd quarter.
Anyway...at work everyone is standing around talking about the game, how much they ate, how much they drank, how sick they got....etc...etc.
so then one of the ladies looks to me and says...so what did you do ?
Oh I went on a 40 mile bike ride
jaws dropped
what....why....are you crazy...id never ride that far...etc...etc
no I just enjoy riding and it was a beautiful day.....besides from what I did see of the game I did not miss much
I guess they all knew I am kind of fit for an old fart, but they had no real idea that I rode that much or enjoyed it that much...no one has really asked...I don't talk much about me....I don't have the me monster sickness
anyway
not bad for an old fart that is twice the age of the next oldest person in the bussiness

I would have loved to have gone on a nice long bike ride, but I got roped into helping my wife's friend move into her new apartment.
By the time I got home, it was pouring rain.
Ah well, maybe next Super Bowl.

Rather than type it again, copied from my FB page:
What a ride last night! Told myself if I was gonna eat ravioli hanging out with Geoff ******, I was gonna have to ride the next day. Glad I rode instead of the super bowl, heard it was boring. Rode up to the Junction on Diablo again, awesome rainbow practically right in front of me, gorgeous sunset, light rain at times, felt great, was warm until I got to the Junction, it was 5:45 and the Ranger was looking at me like I was a nut. Was gonna swap out some dry warmer fleece stuff and put on the heavy gloves but it was getting dark fast and very cold quick. Drenched in sweat and moist outer layers from the rain I tore off down Southgate Rd, no one else on the road, in the dark, lights blazin, light sprinkles, slick roads, 22* wind chill, at 35 MPH, one of the funnest and scariest things I have ever done. Passed one SUV like it was standing still. Grinning ear to ear, deep corners, good banks, off banks, blind corners, shootin S-curves. Hands and face are blue and numb. Couple of corners I got too deep into and missed the apexes a little, came close to leaving the roadway a couple of times. I'm gonna get to know the Rangers so they know I'm OK to let be the last one out in the dark, I have got to do that again, but without the cold and the wet roads.

Kind of the same response I got when I mentioned to my co-workers that my wife and I did 40+ mile by just noodling around. It's easy, a sunny summer saturday, no other plans, a 'hey lets try that road' suggestion. Next thing you know, your having lunch at a place you'd never imagine you would ride to. Great days.

Day before Superbowl was a 70 miler with friends and the Seattle Randonneurs. Superbowl morning was a special two hour "earn your nachos" spin class where we did not one, but two simulated climbs of L'Alp d'Huez - all 21 switchbacks. (Of course I seriously doubt that I could climb L'Alp d'Huez once in two hours, let alone twice, but it was quite a class).
The best part is that in the afternoon I got to watch the local team TROUNCE the Broncos.

Recovered from Saturdays hard 60 mile ride, puttered around the house, sat down with the wife to watch a show by some kid named Bruno Mars (Surprised that there are still pop musicians in this age with real chops), then watched about ten minutes of some stupid football game that came on after it.

Super bowl is a perfect day for a long ride... just make sure you are back before the beginning of the 4th quarter. Usually the streets are empty and you can just cruise around, but get off the streets before the game day drinkers hit the road.
I fought a bad cold this Stupor day, so no long ride for me...

Rode 75 miles on Sunday and got home well ahead of kickoff. Got to see the three NC State Players on Seattle take the Super Bowl from the one NC State player on the Broncos, all starters.

Rode after church, no game watching or party for me, just not a fan or pro football. The ride was great, it was fairly warm after the great ice storm of 2014 earlier in the week.

I did yardwork until it started to rain... then I don't remember what else, but it wasn't watching football... I almost never do.
Usually I try to go as long as possible without finding out the result of the Superbowl... one time I made it to Tuesday, this year it was only a few hours when CNN sent me an update to my phone.

I rode with friends Sunday morning/early afternoon. Stopped at the new bike shop in town. They liked it and bought new gloves.
After I got home and cleaned up my wife and I had an early supper and watched Netflix movies till bedtime.

Allegheny Jet wins.
I piddled around town for 14 easy miles on the Casseroll after having lunch with my parents. Then I picked up some wings and drove home to watch the game. The game sucked, but the growler full of Lagunitas Sucks did not.

Went skiing in 3 ft. of new powder at Winter Park, CO under blue bird skies. All the Bronco fans stayed home so they wouldn't miss the game. Later watched the game (with several Denver fans) until about halftime, and then drove down to Denver to avoid the crowds on I-70 in the morning.
If someone intentionally messed with my Green Egg, I'd give them a guided tour of how quickly it can get over 1000F.
