So THAT'S why
The Thursday night group about killed me last night. This morning I found out why as I unloaded my truck to go to work. We've all been there: my rear brake was dragging. 
Between chores and rain, this was the first time I rode since Helluva; so it must have been that way on Saturday, too. Maybe tomorrow's ride will go a little easier!

A little quirk I have is cleaning my bike after EVERY ride and making sure there's no rubbing. With that written, it's off to the garage to clean the bike and chain in prep for tomorrow's triathlon.

Two years ago, my wife and I picked up a new tandem in Seattle and rode it home. Somewhere south of Portland my wife insisted we must have a brake rubbing. I thought she was just making excuses for how weak we had become. When the bike came to a stop while we were coasting downhill, I decided she may have a point. Unfortunately, the brakes on this bike require a 16 mm wrench to adjust, which I didn't have. Eventually I managed to get it adjusted, in the dark with two pieces of metal held as chopsticks, and our pace picked up considerably.
