At age 81 I still average 5,000 miles a year.
20 years ago average was 10,000+ a year; guess I've slowed down a bit?
Do live 'out west' where we can ride 13 months out of the year!
Pedal on!

32 mi RT commutes (not every day) on weekends 25-60 mi rides. For a 4 hour ride - between 50 and 60 mi. This is on unpaved limestone/gravel trails. Sometimes I will do road but not often. Age 60.

During the summer I do short rides 1 or 2 evenings per week, around 10-15 miles each, and on weekends I will do a longer ride from 20 miles up to 50 miles depending on my training level. So on average that would be about 50 miles or a little more per week.

I looked at my average miles per ride over a few years and was surprised to see it just shy of 60 Miles. I ride about 200 miles a week with a couple of rides after work during the week. I do longer rides on weekends. It is hard for me to commute to the office as I'm not working out of the house!!!

if you have 3-4 hrs to ride, 2hrs each way on a nice burke gillman stretch?

just wondering.
It doesn't really matter. What matters is that you get out and ride and enjoy each mile of every ride. Some riders want to go fast some want to go farther. Whichever you choose isn't important because it's always about the ride.

Thanks I needed that.

It all depends on your health first and then your motivation and sense of pleasure--It should never be painful!

Because it is so much fun!

Enjoy.
