Today marks the second day I am back to riding my bike. It felt a little scary the first day, but today I felt very confident clipped in on my bike. Both days my shoulder feels pretty tired at the end of a ten mile ride, but I can't tell you how good it feels to be back on the bike.

Everyone's done the fall routine, but most of us have escaped major damage. Sorry about yours. You need to practice sticking your butt out so you can roll onto your shoulder rather than sticking an arm out and breaking (or separating) something.

Good point. However, I had both my hands on the handlebars when I hit the ground.

Same with my shoulder separation story. Learning how to fall is important, but it's not going to save you every time.

I have found that multi-directional release SPD cleats are some of the best safety equipment for me.

I use them on my road, mountain, touring, and tandem bikes.

I use Speedplays on my tri-bike.

Which is why right foot down is the correct way.
