Did a nice metric today until the little devil and angel on my shoulders.......

The little devil and angel started talking to me with about 12 miles left in the metric.

The little devil told me I had enough gas in the tank and enough food to eat to go on and do a full century, and how cool would that be since I've never done a full century before.

The little angel reminded me I was planning on riding the 32 mile out and back Paseo Del Bosque path in Albuquerque Saturday while we're visiting in-laws, and I really didn't want to do that after a full century on one day rest.

So instead of being happy I nailed a metric at the pace I wanted to ride at and feeling good about it, I'm sitting here feeling like there's unfinished business.

I never wanted to do a full century before, but now I see one in my future.

You probably made the right choice with the other ride coming up.
That little devil can turn a pleasant and well paced metric into a grinding, painful drawn out century. I should know, I've listened to him before.

If the little devil thinks you're ready, you probably are. The trick is to get the timing right. A better opportunity will show itself.

With another ride following you most likely made a wise choice. Better to have 2 enjoyable completions than a good chance of a hurtin-4-certain after an unplanned 100 miler.

You did great and it's good to hear you're motivated to ride a longer distance. FWIW I did 100 milers on back to back days two weeks ago so next time let the dice roll and see how the 100 miler plays out as it sounds like you certainly have have plenty of engine to do both!!

I had ambitions to do a century last year and never got to it. This year I've done two metrics, and both times I asked myself "Do another 35-38 miles....right NOW?" and both times I said uh-uh. I've done enough metrics now that I won't hesitate to head out on one, but I think that last chunk might be a real challenge.
