What is a good floor pump?
My Topeak Joe Blow gave up the ghost a couple of days ago. I only used it daily for about 10 years, things just don't stay nice anymore
!
I'm going to spend a week or so to look at the market. Any real opinions on what's available? I use presta valves only, my four bikes use pressure ranging from 40-120 psi and I'm more concerned about accuracy and ease than cost.

Believe it or not, I have used the Zephal floor pump with guage that has the presta and schrader adaptable head. Bought it 3yrs ago for 16.00 at Walmart.

I picked up a Gary Fisher Air Zone floor pump off the curb yesterday. Put a chuck on it to see if it worked, it did, pumps air like it's going out of style! Went to Trek dealer for a new chuck, he didn't know they made Gary Fisher pumps. Can't find any info on it on the net.
It pumps my road tires to 100 lbs twice as fast as my Giant Air Tower! It's a keeper.

I've been using my Park PFP-3 for many years. Always works, very robust. Rebuild kits readily available
from Park. Note that this pump is now sold as the PFP-8. The "Professional" version of this is the PFP-7.
More cash, and unless you are pumping up tires all day, every day, I don't see a need to spend the extra
money.

Cant say what a "good" pump is. My Topeak is doing fine at 4 years. Also bought a "Wallyworld" floor pump for $16 - I can think of better ways to waste money.

My Joe Blow is 10+ years old too and still blowing strong. No problems, no-leak, no-squeak. Silent and dependable!

I have a Blackburn and a Zefal. Both have bilingual (German/Schrader - French/Presta) heads, but one works better with the Schrader valves on the cars, the other with the Presta valves on the bikes.

I had two Joe Blows and they were ok. One lasted five years and the other three. The one I wouldn't get again is Lezyne. It's a great mini pump but there's no need to screw the head on. In fact it has taken off the valve a couple times.
Specialized works well as does the Giant brand.

I like my Joe Blow but it need replacing as well. I use a "pipe" accessory to pump up my TT wheels which have a recessed valve and the head of the Joe Blow will not fit in the recessed area. Anyway, the pipe damages the rubber seals on the presta valve on the Joe Blow so when I don't use the pipe it leaks while pumping a regular presta valve. I guess I'll go shopping---probably for a 2nd Joe Blow.

I have the Park Tool PFP-5, the large gauge is best for my old eyes to see. This replaced the Topeak I have still in the garage, I had to constantly repair the cap of the chamber, finally just taped it on with duct tape. Never was easy to use, frustrating at times. The Park Tool has given me 2 years so far, and I'd say the it is the only pump I'll be needing for a long time. The PFP-7, Professional has the large gauge now, I see from looking around the PT website, good move, but the -8 is fine for me and a bit lower in price.
Of course the wealthy cyclist probably is awaiting their new Silca Ultimate, floor pump, at $450.00 or so, per unit. I can think of a lot of other things I'd buy with that chunk of change, even though it looks really well engineered. I hope he will make a complete line of pumps, both frame and floor, that are as well made as the Italian units were.

It's about $50. It's built like a brick sh*thouse and will probably outlast you. It can be cheaply rebuilt and has had complete set of spare parts available for it for the last several decades or so. It folds up to travel small. Will handle any valve type.
For the life of me, I'm not sure why anyone would want any other pump. There are so many $50 pumps out there that are throwaways when they (quickly) wear out.
The other choice used to be Silca pumps. I've had mine for at least 20 years - they too can be rebuilt. The company was sold a couple of years ago and now the pump is a ridiculous yuppy $450 pump (hard to believe, I know). But if you can find an old one, it can be rebuilt and the new company is supporting the parts. They will also outlast you.

I have a Serfas pump that's 30+ years old(!) No maintenance ... it just works. But then again, I like (and use) tubes with smooth valve stems, so maybe that has something to do with it.
I got one of those sweet looking Lezyne pumps (that screw into the valve) a year or so ago. I think it may already need service.

I have a Blackburn HP presta only pump that I ran out of gaskets after 8 years. So I email Blackburn about getting replacement gasket. They said that they didn't have anymore and that was an obsolete model. Well a manager emailed me back and ask if I would like the Blackburn Airtower Shop pump as a replacement. All she needed was an address. One week later it arrived, it's so PRO!
