Iowa. Great rural roads, and farm ponds. Works for me.

LOL. Only had canal carp once. Not that bad but not that good either. I'll stick to bass & cat.

Oh, it's worse than that. Most of the fish caught in the vicinity are inedible and not recommended for human consumption.

Just remember when You Cross a State Line , unless the river itself is the Border You need another State's fishing licence.

Here the Columbia River separates a lot Of Washington And Oregon , shore fishing from either side needs a separate Licence, But in a Boat you have the whole river .

Its obviously Fresh Water, further inland , Definitely Behind the last Dam ... returning to spawn, Salmon

For the summer season, I dream of the finger lakes region of NY. Haven't thought much about winter fishing.

Since I live in central Texas, I can recommend the riding and fishing in the greater Austin area. With the farmland to the east and the hill country to the west and with plenty of lakes and streams, the options are almost unlimited. However, in the heat of the summer, I head up to Colorado to hike, ride and flyfish in the mountains as seen in the attached photo. Life is good!

There's large mouth bass and stripers right in my back yard, Lake Murray SC. Although I have fished in the past I rather kayak and just watch others catch the fish.

We can up you one on the east coast, striped bass and bluefish in the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn

Even had a dolphin took a swim in there recently, unfortunately it died...

Ranked one of the "smelliest" in the US, would you rather paddle down the Ballona Creek?

Lol ...

Funny coincidence, I was just watching the Seinfeld episode where Kramer decided to start swimming in the East River last night ... hilarious.

Ballona's pretty nasty. They find bodies in it every year or so, and it has a lot of other flotsam. I would claim it to be much nastier, but being part of a wetlands, the tide comes in now and again and I think the salt water kinda cleans things out.

And after all ... the UCLA and LMU rowing teams use it to train, so how bad could it be?

How many guys stopped you on the way home? If you can find live bullheads here, you can pull striper, sturgeon and shark out of the same hole.

I would think there are very few places where you can't bike and fish. Collapsible and take-down rigs have always been popular. The possibilities are endless. Bikes are an excellent way to get where others can't. Also good for hauling gear. Used child trailers are a dime a dozen and very adaptable to hauling gear and a cooler.

In SW Michigan I don't think you can live without 15-20 lakes within 5-10 miles. Good bass fishing, many streams a little north are known for trout and salmon.

Virginia Beach; Lakes, ponds, rivers, streams, canals, The Bay, and the Atlantic. The cycling is not bad, very rural in the southern end, but other than bridges or over passes there is no climbing
