It's March!

Its March and my knees ache, my back hurts, I did something to my hip and my wrist is starting to ache.

Its March and the sun is coming out and the temps are moving up into the 30's man I can't wait to get back on the bike!

I've never understood cyclist and the winter. I mean I can understand swimming, but people still exercise/train outdoors even in the winter. Then again I live in So. Florida, where there is no snow or off-season. So I guess I need to live it, to understand it?

Mild winter in Oregon...... 55F and sunny yesterday. Got a 37 mile ride in while wearing shorts! Even though my fitness is lacking, it felt good riding the bike on country roads.

Been there, experienced that. 82F in the shade right now and the central air is on, not running at the moment mind you, but it will be running tonight when I hit the sheets.

This must have been some kind of leap year. Winter here started in earnest very late, and seems like it's going to end late also. Here it is March, and we have single digit lows predicted this week. Maybe next week?

Yesterday, before last night's 6" of snow, I looked out at our driveway and saw these patches of brown. Someone said it's called "dirt."

Here in N Michigan, we just came out of a subzero 2 week stretch. You just dont get much riding in when it's -25F in the mornings and cars wont start. We are getting another 6" tomorrow and two days of subzero. We havent had a thaw all winter long.

Maybe in another 2 weeks it will be in the 30's and I can start this season.

For me, although the exercise warms my core, my fingers and toes get cold after about 30 minutes in temperatures below freezing. Catalytic warmers help, but only somewhat. The worst problem is ice, which is not always obvious. Hit it wrong and you're eating pavement in a fraction of a second, and at age 59 I don't bounce back as quickly as when I was 18. And then there's the lack of daylight, which forces you to ride when traffic is heaviest, or take your chances not seeing ice in the dark.

True, it was 41 Deg.F when I rode to work this morning. Now it's 59 Deg.F and partly cloudy, but not bad, really. I can't complain though because I got in just over 1,000 miles in both Jan. and Feb. . . . first time in many years I've done that.

So far, March seems pretty much like Feb.

Less than three weeks till Spring!
DST is coming Saturday night! If it ever really warms up a bit, there will soon be enough light to ride after work.

It was sub-freezing three days ago, but sunny. Yesterday, today and tomorrow rain, fog, drizzle and ick. Tomorrow it's supposed to be 77F and rain, then at least some freezing precip Wednesday night. Thursday down in the 20s. Then the upper 60s again by early next week.

Geez... no wonder people are getting sick! Nothing too extreme in and of itself, but the yo-yo temps are crazy. I'm taking a few days off next week, and will be around a lake. Dunno whether to take shorts and t-shirts, or boots and (rain) coat. Probably all the above. After all, it's March in the south.

Yep, it's March. I still haven't been on the Singletracks this winter. Now by the time I get my bike out'a bed the dirt is too soft to ride. Like I should be up at 08:00 while they are still frozen, ride, go home, take a nap, and drive 45 minutes to work by 16:00.

I posted something about the weather in the Southeast forum. Seems we're getting "too much" spring-type temperatures too soon. Hope its not a sign of what summer will be like here.

Yep! They're predicting 85º here in Tampa by 2:30 pm. Yesterday's ride felt like a typical day in August.

3-6" forecast for today.

It's coming down pretty hard right now, blowing hard too.

Can't wait to get out later and see how the trails ride with a few inches of fresh.

Awesome winter....keep it going.

We keep getting 3-5 inches of snow every 3-5 days with 8-10 inches now and then. Cross country skiing has been great. Looking at my wall calendar I'm astonished that daylight saving will soon be upon us. I have not pedaled a stroke since the first week of January. While I have enjoyed a real winter for the first time in a long time, I'm dreading that first month of ever longer rides.

Only if that warmer stuff gets here. Today 4-5" wet snow and back to subzero until Friday. Little Traverse Bay looks like a scene from the North Pole one could expect a conning tower of a nuke sub, seals and penguins to poke through.
