Help with frame sizing?
Hi everyone.
I'm currently riding a 55cm frame, and it fits me well.
However, I'm looking at buying the following bike
Aventon Mataro Low
Aventon Mataro Low + Lite Carbon Fork Track Bike Built By CG | City Grounds
and the stance on it is a bit aggressive.
I was thinking if I ordered a slightly larger size ( lets say a 57cm ) and had my seat post lowered, ( to give me the same span it does on a 55cm frame ) then the bars would be a little higher and give me a slightly more relaxed riding position.
The main reason for asking is because I'll put drop bars on it, but that combined with the more aggressive frame seems like i'd be a bit more hunched over than I like.
Is my math right on this?

I ride an older 56 cm bike, it is a tad tall, and a tad long for me. I got oout the tape measure, and measured ever thing on my old frame. Was out the other day looking at new frames, put the tape on a couple of new high tech carbon frames. The carbons all seem to be very long in the top tube.
A little work with a tape measure, paper, and pencil. Will be a good investment when shopping.

On the Aventon website, the frame stack for the 57cm frame is 35mm higher than the 55cm frame, with 9mm longer reach than the 55 frame (MATARO LOW ? Aventón Bikes). So it would seem the 57 will have a taller front end relative to your saddle height (the 57 has a slightly steeper seat tube, but I would think you could neutralize that by fore-aft adjustment of the saddle).
That said, it is impossible for me to know how the 55cm or the 57cm will compare to your current bike.

You don't mention your height and that's one of the critical factors that would fit to a bike.
Today's compact geometry has taken the guesswork out of bike fit and manufacturers list a given size for a given height range.

Sorry, I'm 5'7-5'8 ish.
I'm a bit new to higher end bikes and the geometry is a bit confusing to me.
I think i'll just get the 55 then, and I suppose I can always get a steeper angle steer tube and use spacers to raise the bars a bit if needed.
