Fit difference in a Tarmac and Venge 54cm

I currently ride a 2012 54cm tarmac, but looking to upgrade. I would like to get another tarmac, but found a good deal on a 2014 Venge and on paper the 2 bikes are not much difference in frame size. My fitter said I have short legs and a long torso so the perfect size would be a 55cm, but it's better to go down to a 54 instead of a 56.

For those of you who've tried both is the ride on the Venge about the same as the Tarmac?

I tried both and bought a Venge. The larger sized Venge felt better to me. So, my Venge is 2cm larger than usual for me. And, I am loving it.

Ok so if I normally ride a 54 tarmac a comparable fit would be a 56 venge?

That was my experience, and a surprise to me. I have shorter legs and a longer torso, which could be related to this oddity in fit for me.

The stack and reach dimensions of a 54 cm Tarmac are 543 mm and 387 mm. The stack and reach of a 54 cm Venge are 543 mm and 386 mm. The Tarmac is 1 mm longer in reach. The geometry charts are on Specialized.com.

Kindaslow, while the reach on a 56 cm Venge is 11 mm longer, the stack is 21 mm taller. The larger Venge probably feels better to you than the smaller Tarmac because you're not reaching as low for the handlebar. But the cockpit geometries of these two bikes, at least in 54 and 56 cm, are virtually identical.
