Formal bike fit using a trainer. Any good?

I can't afford a motion capture computer bike fit. I got my first road bike. I think I might get a motion capture bike fit on my next road bike purchase, 'cause I'll have a good job by then. I've been looking at pictures of the high-end bike fitting, and they can make micro-adjustments on-the-fly, to find a position that's just right, before doing anything to your bike. I doubt they have that ability using a trainer. Are trainer bike fittings any good?

Bike fittings can be done just fine on a trainer. Takes a little more time, but not much. Adjustments are saddle up and down, forward and back (which might include a seatpost with different setback), stem length and stem rise. 4-bolt stems are quick to change out. The shop of course will want to sell you the components for your best fit, as well they should.
