Bumping a size?
I was riding quite a bit several years ago, and took a few off, and managed to forget everything I learned...
Anyhow, I have a 54cm Trek Pilot 1.2, which was fitted to me. For the most part I'm satisfied with it: towards the end of riding season I've tended to want to have the handlebars further out and down; but at start of season it seems right... so perhaps it's truly fine.
But last year I started riding at work, and now it'd be nice to have two bikes: one for short/fast rides at work, one for long rides at home. Yeah, I have a bike rack to move a bike around, but sometimes it's just nice to have two bikes. I spied a steel frame bike on CL but it's a 56cm KHS Flite 800, and I came across a thread that indicated it might have longer top tubes than normal. It's an hour drive to throw a leg over (which is cheaper than buying new), hence the question. [The KHS is also a significant bump in all components.]
I think I like longer cockpit / wheel base. I put a leg over my wife's Allez and didn't like it. The 23mm tires acted like pizza cutters and it just felt twitchy. I've yet to warm up fully to group rides, yet alone drafting.
