can i get your stuff when you die because of no brakes?

Just chiming in here.. I know plenty of people who ride fixed gear with no brakes and it's fine for some of them.. others are very lucky to still be alive. I road fixed gear with no brakes for a while, now all mine (even the track bike) have at least a front brake.. listen to Bob he wants you to stay alive.

I can only speak for the LBS, here, say: not a lot.

parts and labor = what it costs.

If you're not actually going to do track racing, I can't think of a reason to use a different size than your road bike.

I don't know anything about the brand and don't care to look. My point is, just pick whatever is closest to what you ride and you'll be fine.
