Minneapolis / Twin Cities area indoor track or something to test new wheels?

Anyone know of an indoor track or something where we can test a new set of wheels just to make sure they are ok for summer? My son just purchased a new set and if they are defective should send them back now instead of waiting for spring to find out if something is wrong.

The NSC Velodrome is in Blaine (http://velodrome.nscsports.org/page/show/499770-home), but unless the wheels are really sketchy, there's probably not a whole lot you're going to learn about them from a couple of hot laps that you can't ascertain from examining them at home. Long term durability questions can't be answered in either case.

You can spin 'em in your hand to feel the bearings are smooth, squeeze and strike the spokes to get a sense of tension evenness, mount them on the bike to check they're running true/round, and that the bearings are adjusted properly and not sloppy side to side. Visual inspection will reveal any major issues.

I'm guessing they're new since you're seeking to keep them clean, and in that case, if they're from a reputable builder/manufacturer/vendor, I wouldn't worry too much.

Surely there is a parking garage nearby, if you want a covered place to ride around. I agree w/ chad, there is no need to find a velodrome. If your son has a road bike, he may have trouble being allowed on the track anyway.
