Proper flatbar ergonomic grip wrist position

I just acquired a Giant Roam hybrid that has ergonomic grips - a flat area for the palms to rest on. Currently, the grips turn on the handlebar. Before I fix this, I was wondering what the group wisdom is on where to set the grips for optimum wrist position. Should the wrists be flat from knuckles to forearm? Or should they be cupped so that more of my weight is resting on the heel of the palm?

I'm commenting here so that I can follow this thread. I'm curious about the same thing. I have a set of Ergon grips in the parts box that I've been meaning to install on my spouse's bike for a while.

I set all of mine to be neutral - they hold my wrists in a relaxed position, neither up, nor down.

Go for a ride and bring the correct allen wrench with you. It may take 3 tries, but the answer is, what you find most comfortable.

Ergon grips came with my Giant Escape. I like the fact that they are easily adjustable with the right size allen wrench. I experimented a little and found that the most comfortable position for me was with the flat palm side slightly down - probably at 10% angle. I think they help a lot to prevent hand fatigue.

I have Ergon grips on several bikes and love the things. Initial adjustment should have wrists basically straight. Make minor adjustments if/as needed. You'll know when it's right.

I too have Ergon Grips , they use a Bolt and Tighten around the Bar .. the GR 2,3,4,5, have a bar end that, integrated, is adjustable separately but same bolt secures Both.
they and the GR1 are for low angle Bars , for a Bar with more sweep back angle they make a GC1 grip..

ERGON BIKE ERGONOMICS

There are online PDF's of the installation Manuals, that are in print in the Package, that include wrist angle suggestions

Here is the GC one https://www.ergon-bike.com/us/en/file...ETS_121120.pdf
