Mini Velo / Folding bikes in Toronto ?

Hello everyone, I've tried to post this on the regional section but I didn't get any response - so I thought I might be able to get more members' attention by posting in this section.

I'm kind of new here and have been browsing the forum for a while now.

I have always been interested in getting back into cycling but at the moment, due to space concerns, I would love to purchase a bike that is smaller in size.

I have looked at several websites and bike stores for folding bikes or mini velos, however especially mini velos, they are extremely hard to come by.

I was wondering if any forum member here know of any stores in Toronto that sells folding bikes or mini velos. I am not looking to invest a lot of money at this point as I am still trying to get back into the hobby.

Any advice or comments are much appreciated. Thanks !

That took a single search on google. Don't get me wrong, I totally grok the desire to ask the community for help, but did you even try?

Seriously though, best of luck and welcome to the fold.

Hey Lalato,

Thanks for your response. I am aware of these big bike stores that sell folding bikes. I'm looking to see if there are other "smaller" or local stores that sell their not as known folding bikes.

Canadian Tire, Costco, and even walmart sell folding bikes. I am looking to see if there are other foldies out there.

Thanks.

I assume you've tried Curbside Cycle on Bloor Street and Urban Cycle by Queen Street?

Thanks Ozonation for your input. At the moment I am waiting for the Solorock - Green Cruiser bikes to be back in stock again.

As my budget is about $400 cad, I don't think I have much choices (Dahon, Tern, Brompton) are all out of my budgets.

I am looking for "non-brand" foldies but I understand that there aren't many around Toronto and it is not a popular choice for cyclists.

I've read a post here about a folding bike from Solorock. Anyone else could comment on their foldies ?

I'm looking for a 20 inch. Either Steel or Aluminum. I've looked into the both and apparently they are not too big of a difference in terms of weight. I am not too worried about Steel though as I don't think I'll do biking during rain/snow.

Anyone else here can think of any foldies that are being sold in TO ?

I did respond to your post in Regional.

Also check out Craigslist and Kijiji for folders. There are a few that would fit the bill quite nicely.

For a little more money you could also check out MEC Origami folder.

At MEC you can get one for $525, which is outside your budget but not by a huge amount. Their warranty is amazing.
MEC Origami LTD Bicycle (Unisex) - Mountain Equipment Co-op. Free Shipping Available

I know that Curbside Cycle and Urbane Cyclist both carry folders but they are probably outside your price range. At Urbane they do carry a non-folder that looks similar to a folder for $500.
Urbanite 20something - Urbane Cyclist Bicycle Store | Toronto M5T 1X5

You can also just keep an eye on Craigslist/Kijiji and see what comes up.

looks like they discovered the raleigh twenty. pretty much a straight forward copy. the frame is chromoly, too. i would buy one of these if it was available as a frameset for say, 200. but, at 500 with a bunch low-grade parts... meh.. even the 50 year old twenty had internal cable routing
