I made a U strut and attached it to the rearmost end of the mudguard to take care of the wobble ..
that will make yours work better . without returning it and making your own replica Fittings to mount the PB ones .

Which I did, But I Have a Pop Rivet tool and a drill and hacksaw & 3/4x1/8" aluminum flat bar to do the Job.

but anyhow The Planet Bike 'recumbent ' mudguards are supplied as an each..
( They fit over the 406-47 wide tires better .. )

Front or Rear, because often there is only 1 wheel of a given size on them.

in16" planet bike only makes fronts for that reason. (Tikit uses 2 Fronts)

That Pletscher appears to have been designed for a singlespeed bike with 120mm rear spacing..I think the Dahon UNOs use it. You probably should try to return it for something you can use.

My Vitesse D3 has 135mm spacing, and the Pletscher Athlete 4B rack for 20''wheels fits it perfectly. It's super strong, but not much heavier than the original Biologic/Dahon rack. It took a while to adjust and tighten it just right. I took the "mousetrap" clamp with the spring off to save weight, and fit it over a 2'' Big Apple tire and the fender. To save more weight I took off the 2 metal rods that support the end of the rear fender and hooked 2 short pieces of wire from the rack through the little holes in the fender.
It came with 4mm Allen screws and bolts (the screws fit the Dahon mounting holes) and folds flat if you want to take it off. I can easily carry a 25lb load on it (which broke my Arclite rack) and it seems bomb-proof. Best bike rack I've ever seen.
That said, if you only carry a light load this might be overkill, and something like the Tern/Dahon/Biologic designs makes sense, and could save you a few dollars and grams (if you can make them fit - they're much less adjustable and versatile).

As did I by using the unperforated portion of a large hose clamp (decent spring steel) and old spokes for the struts. The holes are offset enough so that they put tension on the spoke and keep it from sliding yet just by pinching the two sections together the spoke slides freely through the holes for adjustment.

No so much. I'm still having thoughts about the BF rack, but it puts the backpack way above my seat and I'm thinking that my butt will be bumping into it. I found out on my recent tour that most anything at the back of the seat and at a higher level is touched by my rear when sitting and pedaling.

Interesting. So you have to tilt it back.

Perhaps you should ask whether a tikit rear rack will fit on a NWT. They're short and designed for a 135 OLD.

Sean's page has a bunch of pics with the short tikit rack. The more I think about it, the less promising it is since the rear wheel is 16" instead of 20". So there is a 2" difference in radius. But as you'll see in the second link below, there could be a bunch of fitting solutions that might give you the extra bit to clear your fender/wheel.

Fit Solutions for Tubus Bicycle Bike Racks

I have a Tubus Cargo that will fit. After talking with Wayne at the website you provided. However, that rack is very tall. However, while looking at Wayne's site I found this that might work:

THULE HOME PAGE

It will depend on the angle of the seat stays on the Bike Friday and I'm not sure how tall it will end up, but it looks as though it might work.

we have offset mounts for disc brakes for the Pletscher Rack. It fits all normal Folders very well and is indeed the most adjustable version of a rack, but if you run real huge rotors on a 20 inch rim ... than you will need to bend the stays just a litte bit more

The Plescher rack would require significant bending just to reach the eyelets, let alone out to an extended bolt and space to clear the disk. Also, the rack stays are fixed and when attached to the rack braise ons (on the Bike Friday seat stays) the resulting rack configuration is not very close to level.

Linberi I think you are the winner! I have tried three racks already and they do not work at all. I am reluctant to get the Bike Friday rack because it looks too tall for my backpack, putting it way above my seat. I know the BF rack will fit the bike (unlike the three I triedO, but instead I just order the Xootr rack from NYCEwheels (I had to order a Bionx throttle so I did it all in one package).

I should get it late next week and will let you know how it goes.

Yes, let me know how you like it. You can use any backpack with it or a pannier (but I did read somewhere that some carradice pannier attachments don't work well). I've found a couple additional benefits, too. I remove my BF seatpost when I lock up because I have a Brooks saddle on it. Well, the crossrack seatpost attachment is set so I just put the post back in all the way and I'm at the correct height immediately. When I'm shopping, I have the seatpost+rack+basket in my shopping cart so I don't overbuy my available carrying space. The other thing I've done is attach a freezer bag to the outside of my wald rack on the crossrack; actually just about doubles my grocery carrying capacity. And I love being able to not carry the rack when I'm riding for exercise or going on Bart. Hope it works out well for you.

Great information - thanks.

I also see the utility of carrying just a single pannier back there as opposed to doubles up front (for around town). I don't mind them (mine are fairly small), but you need both on no matter the load. So, I can just use the one out back!

My back pack is a 48 liter Osprey (for the potential cross-country ride late 2016) so I will see how that does back there. Probably less than 20 pounds (i'll put my bear canister and water on front rack). It is rather tall, but if I put the Xootr rack high up I should have plenty of room, but real world experience is just that (so we'll see).

jur - doesn't the resulting bag/pack attachment hit the back of your thighs when pedaling (or more accurately your thighs hit the pack)?

The attachment point to the rack is in the middle so you have 5 or 6 inches rise to the top of the rack. That should help with clearance as well as keeping the load behind you so there's no wind resistance.

Here is what I did for a recent 5 day tour across Florida. It worked, but wouldn't hold enough gear for a 3 month spin. Bag in the back is my tent, with the poles crossways onto of the front rack.

I checked today, it looks like there's about 2 inches clearance at the closest point of approach.

The Xootr seat rack arrived yesterday and I installed it without a hitch. Kinda cool rack. I rode today with my Dill Pickle seat bag and did not notice it back there. One thing that was odd is the height does not work for my standard panniers. That is, it is too short for the panner to fit on top and hook on the bottom (about an inch too short). I would have thought you could simply pop a standard pannier on it.

Anyway, I will start to experiment with the backpack on there and write back in.

I do like it so far though.

BTW - NYCE wheels shows it on their site, but they called me and said that was a mistake and gave me the link to Xootr. So I ordered it direct.

which panniers do you have? you can probably clamp something over the bottom bar as an extension? i went riding with a friend last week who has a brompton (with a "c" bag) and we hit some big headwinds on the Bay Trail - she complained mightily about the wind dragging but my bag was right behind my body so I didn't notice it, lol.

Yes, there is a noticeable difference between two front panniers vs. a rear saddle bag!

Lone Peak Sundance (the smallest version they have):
