Very helpful - thanks. If I do have issues I can add screws like suggested.

Just got my new Mu Uno from NYCeWheels and found they supplied a Park tool cone wrench! Nephew's gonna lose out on those pedals!

I need some higher quality folding pedals. The plastic pedals on my Dahon Speed P8 suck! LOL!

I agree. Quick release are way better than folding. And you can get some good quality. The pedals on my new Mu Uno were making noise from the first ride.

Thanks!!! I should have known to ask you. LOL!

On inspection, the Dahon Speed P8 appears to have the Wellgo FP-7 pedals. I'll be upgrading the the MKS pedals instead.

Tried mks folding and disappointed with durability. Lasted less than a year in one case. I avoid folding pedals now. Else I recommend getting cheap ones and treating them as consumables.

I have taken to using a little antiseize compound to most things, especially aluminum to steel, when I put them together, excepting crank arms on square taper spindles. It seems to stay there longer than grease. I have spent too much time trying to get handlebar stems and seatposts out that seemed to be stuck. I had always understood that the pedal action made the pedals tighter over time. BTW, most better pedals I have have an allen wrench fitting that can be used to remove or install the pedal.

I don't like folding pedals. I like the concept but I have yet to find folding pedals that provide the grip I'm accustomed to with any sort of reliability. I have yet to come to a situation where a folding pedal is necessary and the times that I travel and need to fit a bike in a case, I just remove the left one since it's the only one adding to the overall width of my folded bike... therefore I really have no need for quick release pedals either... be honest with yourself and determine whether you really need QL pedals or just want them as an alternative to folding pedals because your bike came equipped with them. My top 5 bikes all have BMX pedals (like the pictured Nashbar BMX) and foot retention straps like the Origin8s pictured, and the surface area of the pedal is the perfect size for the balls of my feet to fit on.

I didn't realize there are at least two types of wellgo pedals, regular spindle and qrd spindle. Buyer beware. This is still a nice lightweight pedal that attaches by 6mm hex instead of 15mm pedal wrench. What is odd is that even the pic on the QRD pages of Wellgo show the type of pedal that is not quick release...some pedals. M079 - Wellgo

So, I'm looking for a quick release pedal so I don't need to carry a pedal wrench with me. I have folding pedals available, but they don't have the grip I am looking for and I think I'd like a larger surface area. I may even add Power Grips, but time will tell on that idea.

I hope I can find a set of pedals that are not too far offset too.
I’ve been using MKS XP-EZY pedals for over three years and am very happy with their performance. The bearings are excellent. As the name implies they are easy to take on and off. I also use them mostly with trail shoes and wanted as broad and supportive platform as possible so went for the nylon version. I could only find them for sale in England but Wiggle has top rated service to the US and have never screwed up an order I’ve placed with them.

One note of caution, in the photo there is a white nylon split ring that keeps the pedal from accidentally unlocking from the crank. I’ve never broken one and they seem up to the job but it’s not unthinkable that TSA or the like might lose one. A spare set is a cheap investment for peace of mind. These rings are available in the US.

Edit: One more thing. Most standard pedal wrenches are to thick for the QR stub. So a good quality cone wrench (spanner) is required to mount and remove the stub.

I took those off mine. The pedals are quick release but those yellow rings are almost impossible to get off, certainly not quick totally defeating the purpose. And they look ugly.

But I have to say MKS pedals are quality things. I have been replacing everything I can on my bike for lighter models but I can't bring myself to replace those pedals (MKS Promenade EZY).

I have a pair of Wellgo QRD pedals and don't like how the axle has a 6 sided hex shape that needs to align into the quick release mechanism.
It's annoying having to spin the pedal axle to the right spot before you can lock it in.
I see others have totally round axles that are probably quicker to use.
