"Moulton had initially offered his small-wheeled bicycle to Raleigh, but when they turned it down he went into production himself".

But then, Raleigh also turned down Andrew Ritchie.

I was 13 when I got my Moulton 4-Speed in the summer of 1964. It was distributed in the USA by Huffy through Montgomery Ward. I ordered it at the closest Ward's store which was 40 miles away, so it came home in the back of our Buick LeSabre station wagon. It was my primary bicycle for forty years. I also had a Schwinn Varsity to support my hippie/frat-boy image, but the Moulton was the bike that usually got me from Point A to Point B. I sold it in 2004 when I could no longer adjust it to be comfortable with my aging body. I just could not bear to Frankenbike it. A few years later I purchased a Dahon Speed P8 that I could adjust to be comfortable. The Moulton gave me an appreciation for small wheels that continues today.

(Hello Boys)

Well, that brought some memories back.

I was at Moulton Towers with the owners club a year before the Old Bean died.

I had a TSR9 which was a nice bike, but really, the new tech in the world of Dahon/Tern et al outshadowed it.

If Moulton started again with the tech and metallurgy we have today, he'd be delighted.
