8FS suspension springs are beefier so I don't really have a problem there.

This is the area that I'm referring to.

Maybe you missed the Bushing Fix

I have had a creak also. The adjusting ring had come off the thread.
I have since loosen the adjusting ring on the spring and this has gpt rid of the noise. Need to tension the spring so I can thread thw ring back on. hopefully tread intact still.

Ah thanks, didn't notice that's what it was since it's already disassembled and I could see plastic parts. He also goes on about some other parts in the minis suspension.

I've been trying to disassemble mine for a while now but every time I try to loosen the bolt it wont budge an inch, just makes a lot of creaking noise when I apply counterclockwise force with a 10mm and 6mm allen wrench

Any special trick to removing it? I'd rather not break it if there's no way to get replacement parts easily

Already checked that and rode around with the suspension set to a stiffer setting, no change other than a rougher ride and faster speed. The creak only happens if I apply force to one side more than the other and I can see the rear end moving at the pivot.

It moves so much that the kickstand actually rubs my fat rear tire.

Well I finally managed to remove the pivot bolt today after heating it up with a butane torch before applying pressure, looks like they dip them in loctite at the factory.

It's identical to what Jur posted (with the exception of the 2 washers )so I assume that I'll be looking at similar sizes to what he posted for replacements.

First, the lateral play/slop does not come from this bolt; it must come from the suspension hinge. In my case, the 2 spindles were of different size, 19.92mm and 19.97mm, and the bushes being molded were both 20.00mm. So one of the spindles rattled around in its bush, and this cause the lateral play in the hinge.

We just posted new mini's at Downtube 2015 16" wheel 8sp mini and 8H's at Front suspension internal hub folding Bike 2015 . Both have Shimano Nexus 8sp hubs and Gates carbon belt drives.

I will post the 8H's on kickstarter in the next few days for $699+ship ( kickstarter prices have to be the lowest ).

I also have samples of some really nice kids bikes arriving.

Please share your thoughts.....

Thanks,
Yan

Has the Nova been discontinued, or simply out of stock at the moment?

The season starts in April. The biggest change is a replaceable chainring, and adding fenders.

Thanks,
Yan

Looking for a new folding bike as my Downtube frame tubing cracked. Anyone have any suggestions for an affordable folder? I'm looking for a company that gives a lifetime warranty on the frame. Leaning towards Hasa, but am open to other ideas.

Is this comment directed at me? Bikeman58 purchased his bike used in 2007 (warranty was already expired ). It was produced in 2005 and sold in 2006 on ebay with a 90 day warranty (we used roman numeral names in 2005 & 2006). He rode the bike between 2,000-4,000 miles ( according to him ), and his frame cracked in 2014. He has decided to post the defamatory statements about us on this forum about 10 times. The last thread he posted was closed to due his comments.

He claims that we changed the bike frame due to his problem. Actually we widened and lengthened the frame many times over the last 9 years. Nearly every year I made the frame taller to accommodate taller riders. In 2010 I made the seat tube over an inch taller to match our 9FS frame, and we added support to strengthen the frame (the old frames were 2"+ shorter than the current models).

Thanks,
Yan

I'm thinking about getting a folding bike to keep in my car. Not many folders in my area, so I can't take any test rides of reasonably priced bikes. I like the Gates carbon belt drive. Does anyone have any experience with that system? I'm a little concerned about the bike's size also. I'm just under 6'3", with a 34" inseam. From what I've read, maybe the IXFS is the better fit. Any help is appreciated.

You should start a new thread for your inquiry with an appropriate subject. More people will see it and be able to help you.

Good luck with your search.

I am looking at either the Downtube 9FS or the Nova, looking at buying two of either one,
How long is the sale on for for all Downtube bikes.

I was wondering how much the Full Suspension Makes a a difference on ride comfort.

Folding bikes have smaller frames with smaller triangles which are stiffer. Smaller wheels are also stiffer hence suspension is more of a requirement on a folding bike.

That's my 2 cents.

Thanks,
Yan

Not sure if it came with a kick stand or not, but what kick stand fits this bike?

Would the downtube 9FS fit someone 4'11" tall as my wife is small.

What is the height range for the 9FS.

Yan would know, but you should see if someone has one near you and have her try it on for size.

I have read that some parents that own the 9FS let their 10 -11 year old kids ride them but how tall are they?
