Well if he had an old school one ha ha.

"I see you have constructed your own folder (lightsaber),.. impressive..."

Photoshop anyone?

I just bought this Gazelle Kwikstep for E 25. Great condition. 22 inch but will take 20 just fine. May keep it and possibly pimp it, but i may also sell it. I got 4 bikes now, getting out of hand. Will probably sell other two (non folding racer and City/MTB) ha ha.

What do you guys think of this bike?

andy_is_me 10-07-05 11:00 AM

those kwiksteps are nice bikes. i was searching around for some info or pictures the other day and couldn't find much. does this one have the gazelle chainring? seems to be in better shape than your other one.

v1nce 10-07-05 12:32 PM

No special chain ring. Much much better condition from an appearance point of view. Mechanically a little better too. There are some rather subtle/small differences between the two as well. I would say the black one has a slightly better frame (a bit more attention to details such as thicker and better welds) but i will prob. post more about that in my forthcoming page. I have also found there is very little info to be found and what there is, is mostly in dutch. I think that is because the bikes were sold only in the NL or perhaps very sparsely in other countries. What i found out so far: many many were made, they were in production even longer than Twenties i think (something like 25 or more years, from 1964 onwards i think) as they were the first Dutch produced folder. Over that period the frame almost didn't change at all but there was a variety of mostly steel components but all rather utilitarian, no racing versions or anything. They have been produced in lots of colors. So far i have seen: Green, black, Old Pink, Blue, Gray, Green, Brown and my GF saw a kindoff mauve one.

The back hub is one speed torpedo coaster. I think at the very least they were produced with the Duomatic, the SA, Gazelle and Torpedo 3 speed hubs too.

I am guessing you checked this link:

I think this is more "boba fett-sh" than Vader-sh. Still great!

Na nah, get your Star Wars Pantheon right ha ha ! Boba Fett would have a green gray bike with lots of gizmo's on it and a Wookie scalp hanging of the front.

On the subject, Who is riding what in the Star Wars folder universe?

My US$0.02 is that Senator Bail Organa as well as the Alderaan folks all ride Bike Fridays.

Yeh i reckon those Alderaan goody goodies would yeh. prob mostly white and the most "elegant versions" probably Pocket Rocket's Pro's. Now Luke that is a no contest, the fastest folder with Bullhorn bars (KHS, DAHON, BF) or perhaps a folding recumbent..

Oh dear, it is a folder SW nerd out fest! God help us all!! ;-)

LittlePixel 10-08-05 08:13 AM

Obi Wan is easily posh enough to be on a Moulton;
C3-PO on a gold Dahon Sweetpea hahaha...

I think a tandem (recument), really old but with the most expensive set of hed wheels and no paint, previously used by someone in Vegas is Han Solo's choice.

Ha ha, that's classic those pictures! Nice one ha ha!. Yeh i could see Han on that Tandem with Chewbacca growling in the back and tack welding malfunctions on the fly har har.

May the Folder be With You!

I think this frame would have been much sexier if Dahon would have used the Speed 8 frame instead of the Boardwalk. Just an opinion.

Wow!! now that is a nice folding bike Dahon Steve!!, do you have any idea how many they are producing and how much they will cost? I'm looking to get another folder/commuter bike for next summer, and if this is in the right price range, I would love to own that one!!...That's a nice bike, I love the mustach handelbar!!

Benjamin - IIRC, they were planning on making 5,000 and they were priced at around $900USD.

14R 10-23-05 06:01 PM

By any chance, did anybody save the 2006 catalog (PDF file)?

I would love to see that, specially the accessories including the new bag.

Please e-mail me the file at rcguerra@bellsouth.net

Thank you in advance,

Rafael

Ahh thanks there af895, that's what I was looking for, I'll have to check into it with my LBS that I get them through!! excellent..

By the way af, what does IIRC stand for, normally I can pick up pretty quickly on these abrevitions that we use, but that one I can't figure out for some reason.

Take care,
Benjamin

Actually I heard from a bird that they will be producing more in the realm of 500...
I wonder who gets number 1?

Brian 10-23-05 08:21 PM

If I Recall Correctly...

Not sure about Solo or Vader, but Lando Caurissian would stop here to pimp his ride.

LittlePixel 11-01-05 09:06 AM

Those neons are surprisingly cool. I like the idea of the "GMR" technology...
Not too far from my sabre frame too... hehe

Maybe if people could make frames filled with neon out of that new transparent aluminum the whole darn bike could glow. How cool would that be? :)
