Dahon bag - fit for the speed pro?

Hi
yes, another newbie here......

Yesterday I got my new speed pro and really wanted to buy the Dahon bag (not the cover, but the full zippered bag) - alas, the bike would not fit into the bag - very close to fitting, but not possible.

Couple of questions:
- anyone familiar with this?
- anyone know of a bag that will fit?
- any suggestions?

Thanks! (for this - and the great forum)

If you can wait for Dahon to offer it's 2006 accessories in just a few month, wait to purchase a bag. They will be offering a bag that will fit all their model's (14"-26") wheel size bikes. This bike bag is supposed to be a major improvement over those doubleplay ones that never seem to fit the intended bike size. If not check out previous threads on the subject: Bags Slipcovers Slip Covers in Search The Forums and see other ideas offered in this area.

if you have a dahon where the handlebar folds to the outside, it is indeed almost impossible to fit it into the 20 inch bag... as folder fanatic mentions, there will be a new really nice bag, but that not going to be available in the next 2 months I suppose.. for the meantime you can get a 26 inch bag and have room to spare

It can be done! It's not easy, but it is possible. That is, with the stock Stelvio tires on. I have yet to get full closure of the bag with the Marathons on, but I've been able to close it enough to carry the bike around by the shoulder strap.

The trick is to slip the thing over the top with special attention to getting the bag past the curve of the tires, flip the bike over with a lot of care (so your previous effort isn't wasted) and then zip carefull while adjusting the bag. With the Stelvios I got it down to probably about a minute, two tops for getting it in the bag that way. The Marathons are giving me fits, but I connect the clips on the bottom with maybe 4-6 inches of open zipper and it's all good for carrying it here and there.

Find a link to the new '06 bag, that thing looks great and a breeze to use. I may get one myself, investment in the current bag be darned!
