Dahon bike weights

I currently have a Dahon Boardwalk D7, and I just went to the bike shop and tried out a Dahon Speed 8.

Although Dahon's website has both listed as roughly the same weight, for some reason the Speed 8 felt lighter to pick up. Am I imagining things?

Could it be balance? Maybe one bike is heavy at one end, that would make a big difference in how it feels to try to pick it up. Try to pick up your bike from the handlebars instead of the cross bar. It'll seem a lot heavier until you get it high enough for the rear wheel to swing under and balance the weight....
