Bike Friday owners... Suitcase Shopping!! : )

I was out having lunch with friends this past Sunday when we happened across a Samsonite Factory Store. Take a look at what they had.

As you can see from the other photos, I picked up a blue one. I was out the door including tax for $120.

It almost matches the bike! They're a bit off Green Gear Green though.

The Samsonite look about 1" narrower than the Carlton, have you checked the bike fits?

Nice how it almost matches the bike! I presume you had the original Bike Friday trailer? I've been wonder which other trailer bases I could combine with a suitcase to make a non-BF travel trailer...

I haven't packed it yet but I've talked to a lot of Friday owners that started with the Carlton or Oyster 29 and now have this case, the F'Lite 31. They say there's a bit more room.

I actually bought a different case just because I didn't want a black trailer. In the shadows of trees on the side of the road I want a color that doesn't blend in with those shadows. It is kinda cool that the blue is that close to Bike Friday's blue. I think the red case is a good match for BF Flag Red too.

I did already have the BF trailer and so far like the way it works. They sell narrower trailer bases and probably all the bits needed to make them work with other bikes. I haven't looked into that though.
Here's the link if you haven't been there yet: https://www.bikerev.com/ I'm not sure of what other trailers would work for what you speak of. The BF trailer breaks down for packing very nicely.

Good luck finding what you need.

I bought the Samsonite F'Lite from an online retailer for under $100 and it appears to be identical to the new case BF is shipping with their bikes. it fits the bike ans some extra gear great and the template for the trailer hitch is spot on.

The Samsonite F'lite works great for me...I use if for both of my BF's. If you are using 406 wheels, it fits with room to spare. If you use 451 wheels, you will need to deflate your tires....

I bought mine on ebay for $99.00 plus shipping
