With the car de-registered and a transit strike looming, kitting the folding bike out for any breakdowns this winter is big on my mind. The biggest item in my break-away kit was the spare inner-tube. Hmmm. That gives me a crazy idea...

Guess why there's a Presta valve peeking out of the hinge?

Between putting the spare inner tube inside the frame and getting an Alien multitool, I just cut my tool kit to 1/10 it's original size.

You are Bonkers AF! (and i am jealous because my Twenty won't let me do this).

So are you going to get a seatpost pump too?

My Tweaked and modded Raleigh Twenty. Lots of pictures and lots of general info on for example a different & Cheap Bottom Bracket solution as well as fork solution.

How do you get the tube out without damaging it?it looks like it could suffer from being stuffed in there and pulled out.

HA! V1nce: I used to have a seatpost pump! These days I'm running the Topeak Morph and it's attached to the handlebar post - easier to use and has a gauge.

James: it's not too tight a fit but I take extra care getting the valve stem out. Once it's safely out, the tricks are: "twist" tube while pulling it and use a really beefy Schwalbe tube that's less likely to shred.

I'm thinking of tapping out that hole since it's only about 1/3 the size of the frame tubing. I wouldn't get too wild but a bit wider would be useful.

Just got home from the local bike co-op I'm volunteering at. Picked up a Deore LX hub for $5. (!) Trying to find a set of 32-hole rims to build up a second set of wheels for the folder. More on that as it happens.

    Nite!
    Chris
