Anyone who's thinking about getting a folding bike bag for your 16 in./20 in.Dahons, might want to consider "Jeep" folding bike bag. It fits both my Boardwalk and Helios p8, and Jeep's logo is not on it. The bag is a little bigger than Dahon's Double Play bag and can be had for $35 shipped from Amazon. If anyone's interested, I can post some pics up.

The Gaerlan bag has absolutely NO padding. You could use a duffel bag and accomplish the same thing. For the money I would rather have another DT (Downtube) bag that I got from Yan. It would then fit on the bike as well and you can pad around it. It worked great on my Dahons and Brompton as well. The Brompton of course had more room around it. Most of these bags I'd still be cautious to use it for airline travel. If you do, go to a camping store and get high density ensolite (sp?). It is what you put under your sleeping bag to act as a little cushion between the bag and the ground. It is pretty good stuff and not too expensive.

I don't need a padded bag, I just need one to put the Swift folder in when I have to hide it from establishments that won't let me take the bike in. I didn't see the DT bag on the DT website. Will it be large enough to take the Swift. How much is it? The Gaerlan bag is only $25.
When I fly, i'll be packing the folder in a F'lite suitcase.

SG- I have fit my Dahon in it but I haven't tried my Swift yet. The one nice thing about it is it fits in its on little bag when not in use in that it folds in on itself. Sort of like a self-storing windbreaker that you can wear on you belt. It has little loops that will attach to your seat so you always have it with you. They are not on the DT website but you can ask Yan directly about them.

They are what come with the DT as standard issue. I wanted a few extra for my other bikes. At the time they were $40/shipped. So far no issues with them but the zipper pull could be better. The zipper itself seems to work well but the pull seems a little weak but so far I haven't broken it yet. They have a shoulder strap as well and pack back into themselves pretty well.

The best bag that I have come across is the Birdy Rucksack

You put stuff inside it like a normal rucksack, then the back panel unzips, the shoulder straps dissappear into another zip, and a bag big enough to take a Birdy, GoBike, Brompton etc. unfolds with a wide shoulder strap. Will post some pics of my GoBike fitting into it when I get a mo!

That Birdy rucksack looks pretty smart. Anybody use the Dahon Double Play 16" to carry around a Brompton? It seems like that might be a decent alternative (for a little less $.)

I actually use a Doubleplay bag sized for the 20 inch models for my Brompton. It is obviously loose-like a pair of relaxed fit jeans-but I never had any problems using with both my bikes. The Dahon fits very snug and can be a major hassle to fit it in. Another bag I have used for both bikes is a large black duffel bag for travel in trains. It looks far more neater and seems to blend in more with each bike's shape than the Doubleplay. I bought that for about $10.00 at the local 99 cents store nearby. Good bags are to be had if you know where to look and what bag to adapt to bike toting duties.

Dimension for the jeep bag is about 28 in. x 22 in. x 10 in.

The zipper of jeep's bag is on the side and allows you to open the bag all the way up, whereas Dahon's zipper is located at the bottom.

Jeep's fabric material is not as good as dahon's... and Wavshrdr is right; dahon's doubleplay does have some padding in the back which i didn't notice, and jeep doesn't have the it.

Like I said before, it is best to shop around rather than depend on now over-the-top Ebay. I don't trust them much-in my opinion.

When I start commuting regularly again I will get one of those to replace my always clunky DoublePlay bag which never was easy with the stock Stelvios on my SpeedPro '05 let alone Marathons (which made it nearly impossible to close the zipper).

I dropped my DT down a flight of stairs in its supplied bag. No damage except to a reflector. However, the shoulder strap later pulled off the bag - there's plastic squares that hold it on and the cracked, and man is it difficult to tote this thing with out the strap.
