Saddle recommendations?

Can anyone recommend a saddle that will sit a little higher on the seatpost? I need about one inch extra height on a KHS-Westwood to be comfortable. The seatpost is currently on the insert limit line. Alternatively, what might the tolerance of the seatpost be? Could I safely take it one inch beyond the limit?

Thanks

No. If it has a shim it will destroy it. Otherwise, it might damage your frame. The point at which the post goes into the frame serves as a fulcrum of sorts, so if it's too high, it can spell trouble. This is also dangerous.

If you like your saddle, why not just get a longer post?

Unfortunately, I already have the longest post that KHS make (apparently).

Is it a standard seatpost size? If it is, you don't have to limit yourself to a KHS post.

I have had the same issue with my Westwood.

You might want to look at my previous thread on the subject at:https://www.bikeforums.net/folding-bikes/225077-long-seat-post.html

I would still like to find a 500mm post but the post I made up and discussed in the above thread (#6)seems to be doing fine.

If you google "29.2 seatpost" you will find several seatposts as well as shims that will allow you to use other standard size seatposts.

A Brooks B-66 or narrower B-66 Champion, and a Seat Sandwich will give the height you need and be wonderously comfortable to boot.
