I should think the 11.4kg does include the above, otherwise you are looking at a 12kg + folder. The German blog was inclusive of the rack and fenders too. However, I doubt the weight quoted was for the larger frame....

The guy seems to be switching between the two handles in this video. Looks like he's actually struggling a little bit with the forward handle. The bike is front heavy, so he switches to the back handle and rolls it, then it looks like when he gets on the bus he actually just forgoes the front handle completely and just picks it up by the frame.

You're right: lifting off the ground a few inches is vastly different from being able to lift over something or onto something. When the guy in the video has to lift the bike over the sidewalk and onto the bus, he seems to carry it by the main frame which is what I'd do since it seems much easier and more efficient to do it that way. That's probably what Brompton has realized after all these years, and why they don't use handles at all.* In fact, the handle in the pic you posted seems more robust than the one in the video; it also seems like the tikit's frame handle would interfere with a water bottle holder if you try to install one. I think it's more aesthetically pleasing to leave the handle off the main frame though–you'd save weight too!


* I know Brompton's solution is that you use the seat as a handle, but it's still easier for me to lift and carry it by the frame.

It looks to me like there isn't a frame handle other than whatever is used when rolling. What you are seeing is maybe a bottle holder or something and the hand shift while getting on the bus is from probably seat tube to frame.

Are you sure? Did you see this vid? You think that black appendage is a bottle holder? And what is that part on the frame in the pic in invisiblehand's thread?

I don't know myself, but it does look like some sort of handle.

It doesn't really look like a bottle holder either. I have watched all of the vids a few times and haven't really figured it out. If it were a handle I would expect a part of it to parallel the frame tube but maybe not. Thought crossed my mind too that it may be some sort of strap handle intended to go through the cover. ??

It just looks to me like in the bus boarding video that he is rolling the bike with his right hand and then when he gets to the bus holds the bike by the seat tube with his left hand momentarily while he shifts his right hand to the frame. I could be wrong. It's just the impression I get.

The thought also crossed my mind that it may be part of a latching mechanism of some sort but going back and looking again I'm not convinced of that either.

I've looked at their site different times looking for something that would be a good multi-modal commuter and this is certainly looks to me like it's the best I've seen from them and the competition is either Brompton or Strida. I'm not ready to buy anything now but am glad that it looks like I'll have another option should I decide to get a folder. It will be interesting to see how it works out.

Highlights:
-The dimensions are 15"x24"x35".
-The bike includes saddle, pedals, and fenders, but front carrier is optional.
-The frame is chromoly steel, not aluminum.
-It weighs under 25 pounds, which is lighter than the weight previously mentioned (maybe the difference is due to the front carrier?). Considering that the frame is steel I don't think this is terrible.
-Available in 21 sizes for an almost custom fit.
-No price given.
-All production is sold out until March (which I guess must be true since when I contacted BF about buying one I was turned away).
-Currently only available in black (what happened to red?!)
