Brompton - Carrying the bike
 

I have a S6L-Plus, and I love the bike. However, carrying the bike (26 lbs) gets alittle heavy when I have a straight shot inside a large building or a no biking area.

I noticed that Bike Friday has made the Tikit, which seems to be a direct competitor to the brompton bikes. I saw that you can "walk" the Tikit by pushing it. Cool idea.

In this video, the guy is pushing his brompton by the actual bike wheels. Anyone have any idea how to accomplish this?

The bike is already 26 lbs and I don't want to add the rear rack with the ugly rollerblade wheels. But I'm open to any suggestions.

It looks like he's towing it on the little wheels at the top of the rear triangle. Not sure how easy that would be with the crude stock items but a lot of people upgrade them using rollerblade wheels with silicone tyres and proper bearings that should easily allow for towing like in that vid. Not sure how much it would affect it if you take off the mudguards (fenders) as there is an even smaller secondary wheel at the back to form a tripod of wheelness when it's folded.

The picture is sort of grainy so I cannot draw any conclusions from it. On my own Brompton C type, I do either of two things. I lift it and carry it by holding on beneath the saddle at the main frame. Or I use a luggage cart and tow the bike if I had to roll it for a long duration. The big skatewheels (permamently attached at the frame) at the end of a no fender Brompton does not cut it for me.

It might be possible to eliminate carrying it altogether (or at least for the most part) by fitting a rack and scooter wheels. The added weight would not be a big issue if that becomes the case.I can sympathize about carry in a bike though, as I have had to carry my classic 3.In certain instances though i can simply wheel it on the rear wheel unfolded where i cannot ride.

I have a 6ML Brommie with mud guards and the rollerblade wheels work great.

Just need to angle it a bit while you are pulling/pushing. I usually do it with my stem extended. Take a bit of practice.
