I recently picked up an old mid 60s Dutch Batafold, but it is missing the seatpost clamp/qr, and the handlebar qr. Does anyone have enough experience with these bikes to have an idea what other, more readily available parts might work, or where I might find the original parts? I can provide pics if needed.

It might look very strange, but indeed we would like to see some pictures.

The seat tube is square and should have a bolt welded/brazed on the back side and then a slot maybe 4 or 5 mm by 15 or 20mm located above and below that bolt. The seatpost clamp could be made out of a small piece (15mm?) of channel iron/steel, with the two sides of the channel fitting the slots above and below the QR seatpost bolt.. I am missing the QR lever and use an old front hub nut which is like a huge wingnut. I haven't seen any of them for sale for 20+ years.

I will try and dig out mine and take a picture. The bracket is made of a piece of metal that matches the spacing of the two rectangular holes in the frame and then has a hole in the center of the bracket that fits the frame bolt. Right now is is in storage is a backyard shed and is pretty buried in stuff.

It is confusing to describe, and I have never seen any other seatpost clamp that even vaguely resembles it. As stated earler, the bracket looks kind of like [ with a hole in the center. I have attempted to upload an incredibly bad drawing of what it looks like but I'm not sure it worked.

Ah, that's part of the confusion. I believe that bolt welded to the frame had been sheared off at some point in the bike's past, because there's just a stub there. Guess job #1 is to drill it out? Also, I seem to recall only one slot near the bolt, but I'll have to look again. I've packed it up - I'm returning to LA on Tuesday; then I can unpack it and take pics.

I don't really remember if there are one or two slots, I remember 2, but I could be wrong. I'm not sure how you can mount it without the bolt.

Another option would be to drill out the bolt, find a piece of square tubing larger than the seat tube and weld/braze a nut on it and use a bolt in that nut to press through the hole where you drilled out the original bolt and hold the seapost on that way.

Here's a detail of the top rear side of the seatpost. On close inspection, it seems as if a nut was welded there originally, so I will probably try to drill out the bolt stump, tap the nut, and put in a new bolt. Perhaps someone can tell me how long that bolt sticks out originally?

Also, does anyone have an idea as to how to remove the chainguard? I have a very bad feeling it's secured by the fixed cup. That's going to be fun...
