Please help/advice for a novice
Im looking for a used folding bike in my area (Modesto CA) but am having very little luck.
So I took out an add on Craigslist and have had one response for a used Northwood bicycle. They said they are asking $150. Ive never heard of Northwood, has anyone here heard of it?
I know that Craigslist is full of theives so Im extra cautious. Thanks.

Sounds familiar ... but I don't think that there has every been a long discussion of the product before.

Does anyone know a quality source for used bikes? You would think if you can find used car dealerships and used motorcycle dealerships that you could find a used bicycle store to consult.
Ive taken out adds in San Francisco, Sacramento, and Stockton but have only received one reply from the S.F. one, and that one looks like a scam. You wouldnt believe the misspellings, haha.

DeeDee, Your best bet is to keep searching the bicycle section with the key word "folding." If you aren't sure about any bikes you find, post them here. I would pass on the Northwood unless you can post a close up pic here. It's quite possibly a steel monster (not an R20 jab!) that is worth less than $150 new.
What are you going to use the bike for? How small are the places you are going to take it in to? How much do you want to spend? If you answer those questions, you'll get some good recs. from forum folks.
