Fold Up Right Now In The Present-Rather Than Wait For The Pie In The Sky
As much as I miss my old non folding bikes, I no longer have much use for them beyond a occaisional recreation type ride. My folding bikes are the only bikes I can use now since parking/storage for bikes are nonexistent here and will continue to be for the long haul. I think I will be a bent over old lady before serious parking/storage facilities will be offered on streetcorners. The only thing like this right now around here is some embedded looped poles to lock your bike to (a real joke since the only thing they attract is the would-be bike thief and innocents). For some interesting reading:

Fire Hazard???
"Department of Citywide Administrative Services officials said such regulations(no bike parking inside) are in place to prevent potential fire hazards caused by the bicycles." Fire hazards caused by bicycles? What, do they inflate their tires with hydrogen in NYC? Ah! The little minds of bureaucrats.

I suppose video camera surveillance would help curtail such an event these days, but thieves are enterprising buggers.
