Dahon folded sizes
I am looking at Dahon Spped 7 and Mariners now. My question is Dahon syas the D7 folds to 13X25x32 and Mariner to 12.5x26x29.5. Thw crucial number is the 29.5 as it allow fitting in an airline sized suitcase. Does asnyone know if these are true measurements? I've looked at the folded pics and I can't see how the Mariner is 2.5" less.

I don't find putting a Dahon 20" bike in a suitecase much of a problem, in this case an MUP8 in a Samsonite Oyster. I do find it easiest to place the front wheel in a plastic bag and stowing it in my other suitcase. I can, however, get the entire bike in the Samsonite, it just takes more time and extra care. Gaerlan's webpage provide all the information you will need. Cheers, recumbenteer

A Dahon Boardwalk(same size as a Mariner) will fit into a Samsonite Flite 31. You need to remove the seat post and wheels. It all fits in the Flite 31 with some giggling around and weighs about 47lbs. under the 50lbs limit. We just returned from a 50 day trip to Japan(you wouldn't believe the variety of folding and same wheel bikes in Japan!). We flew on United Airlines without any trouble at all with our luggage. Never asked what we had in are luggage as long as they weighed less then 50 lbs. We also took our bikes on trians and buses in Japan, free and no trouble as long as they were folded and covered. So get a Flite 31 and go! Ron

Yep, Boardwalk & Mariner are the same frame.
You'll have to take off the wheels and saddle to fit it into a 62 linear inch suitcase. It's not that difficult to pack, probably take you 30-45 minutes.
