If you're using a bike with a rear derailleur remove enough so that the chain does not sag when on your smallest cog. If you're on a singlespeed or internally geared hub you should remove enough so that you can pull the wheel snug while keeping the axle within the drop outs.

Do a search on Merc on this website and you will find many posts, or just ask me a question. I have owned one of these for a while and have ridden it over 2500 miles now.

Hi:
Thanks a lot EvilV, I already contacted Anita, as I read her mail from other post from you here, the point is that she sells the BP02-03 , do you think it´s possible to find somewhere the BP02 7 speed model or should I give up??, I have been offered the bp01-07 for late march but I don´t like neither the model nor the price. Any advice??

I know of no European outlet that is at this time ready to import the BP02 7. Like you, I dislike the model BP01 - the frames look unpleasant to me.
The only model that Anita has is the BP02 3. That's the model that I have and I know of other people who bought them. It's an excellent bike. I use mine every day.
Best wishes with your choice. The price of the Merc (BP02 3) is very attractive I think. That was the reason I bought the Merc and not the Brompton - the price and that I could get it right away in a couple of days. I think it came about two days after I paid on ebay. Brompton were at that time quoting a two month waiting time. I was too impatient and in the end made the right choice.
If you do go for the merc - I would recommend that you buy the spare part upgrade of the aluminium chain tensioner. The original part is made of plastic like the Brompton one and some people have broken them. I broke mine. The metal upgrade version is probably unbreakable and only costs £12. If you were ordering a bike, and asked for the upgrade metal tesnioner unit, you would same on postage too. I'm glad I got the metal part myself.
