I'm looking for a couple of inexpensive folders to take on a 25' boat and I came across this Kent ultra lightweight folding bike on ebay and since I know nothing about folding bikes, I was wondering if anyone is familiar with these. Since I'll need 2 or 3 bikes and we will riding only a couple of miles on relatively flat terrain, I was hoping to get away as cheap as possible. Also, I see a lot of no name folders on ebay for under $100 and does anyone know if any of them are any good.

Save your $$ and get something else. Its been discussed here a few times already (do a search). The concensus is that, they are no good.
The best buy is Downtube offerrings, IMO. But for your need, as you stated, a Dahon Boardwalk would probably suffice.

I have one and I use it to ride at least 5mi a day on both flat and hilly roads. It's actually ok, if you're not taller than 5'8". Just know that it doesn't fold that small, so space might be an issue if you bring it on a boat.

I thought the consensus was that they were ok, but not good enough for enthusiast usage.

I've never ridden one, but my impression from others is that they should be alright for tootling around for a few miles on flat terrain. Some components might fail and need to be replaced, but components will eventually fail on any bike. Let's just say that the Kent's are sold for a fair price for what you get.
