Not pretty, but after sandblasting the frame and fork would be a good basis for a Hot Rod R20.



Can't tell if all the chrome is shot, or whether Simichrome, 0000 steel wool and elbow grease would revive some of the parts.

Sorry, I already snagged the pump for mine.

It is in a new "Mom & Pop" bike shop that just opened in Arlington Heights. The owner Peter Barson seems like a nice chap.

I hope to be up in Chi - Town in late Jan or early Feb, and this bike WILL BE MINE! Muauawuauwuaa (evil laugh). I called and talked to the owner and he was a really cool dude. Gave me advice about the town and where I could take the wife. I am planning to take an extra piece of lugauge and stripping the bike down there and hopefully getting it to fit. He told me the stem is siezed in the steerer so I am in for a real challenge. I may have to take my friends hand grinder with me and just cut the stem off. The Bike sounds like its a complete basket case, and that opens the door for some real experimentation, and that sounds FUN! I also have a felling that when I get done with one of the 20's Im working on, people will be asking where they can get one. These bikes around here are also INCREDIBLY RARE, so you take what you can get. Im more interested in experimenting though. Wish me luck, and Stay away from my BIKE

Just got back last night from Chicago and I now own this bike! Peter is awesome if any of you ever get a chance to stop into his shop. I hung out there for as long as the wife would let me, and "Busted his Stones", as Peter would say He's pretty flippin' knowledgeable bout bikes, and fixes up old bikes too which is a really cool thing to do to promote "Green" living. Pretty cool set up to his shop too. I contacted him a couple months before heading to chicago and he practically planned my every move in the city. He gave me priceless information about getting around and different places to go. He used to work in the city so he knows all the ins and outs. If ANYONE is planning to hit the city, give em a call, you can stop and talk bikes with em, and get the 411 on the city.
Im not sure what the final outcome of this frame will be, but I'll keep you all posted. I'll probably start a blog about this frame too. Im headed to a LBS to use their cotter pin press, this bike has seen some abuse, and I need to determine how much.

Hey fellas, I just got back from Chicago last night and picked up this bike. Thanks MnHPVGuy for the lead! Peter at the shop there in Chicago is awesome. Not only because he had this bike for me, but he also helped me plan my whole trip to Chicago. He used to work int he heart of the city so he gave me the skinny on which places to eat, where to shop and even where to stay. His shop is pretty new and has a pretty cool setup with the bike stands right out in front of the store. He also reconditions old bikes with new parts which is an Awesome "Green" alternative. If any of you are ever inthe area, make sure you look em up. Stop by and chew on his ear about bikes, and get some advice about the city.
Im not yet sure what I am going to do with this bike. Its seen some abuse and I have to figure out how much. Im headed to a LBS right now to use their cotter pin press. The frame has enough surface rust that makes it a good candidate for a chemical strip bath. I'll probably get on that as soon as I figure out what brase-ons it might need, and also what I will have to take off of it. I'll try to keep you guys posted. There will probably be a blog started on this bike pretty soon, In fact, I'll be taking a camera with me to the LBS to document the crank AND cup removal, which can be a REAL BEAR sometimes. This one has quite a bit of rust so I've started praying already
Sorry if I havent been on the site lately, but the wife is prego, and the photography work is pickin' up a bit. You guys all keep ridin' the folders !
