Moulton TSR with 451 wheels

Hi again,

Contrary to common belief that moultons cannot take 451 sized wheels, one of my mate discovered that TSR frame with V-brake pivots can take 451 wheelset. Of course you should compensate for different brake pad position with some adaptors or paul brakes..

Here is his TSR. He fitted a full dura-ace 20 speed groupppo, silver nokon cableset, thopson seat post and stem, brooks bar tape and saddle. Saddle is a modified B17. (Cutting brooks saddle is getting popular here too)

Personally I think that moving from 406 to 451 has less advantage than 349 to 355 or 355 to 406. You'll get less tire/wheelset choices with 451.

However, it's a cool mod anyway and there is skinny 1" road tire for 451...

+1!

Raxel, you and your friends rule!

PS: Are there any negatives to cutting the Brooks saddles? Does it affect the support? I'm intrigued. It looks so streamlined. Can you provide some closeup pics of the saddle so I can see where you cut?

There's a guide to cutting a B17 here on the Fixed Gear Gallery. In my experience it's holds up well - the tension is all in the top of the saddle and the sides don't appear be part of the main integrity of the saddle.

Guide here.

PS - bike looks F a s t on 451s. You and your mates must have a blast!

100% agree to that.
But riding with boombox on is quite fun (I hide my smaller speaker in handphone bag :) )

It's the first ever bike I saw with a bell on drop bars.

Hi All,

Does anybody have some photos of their TSR packed? Need to know how packable it is with wheels removed and possibly fork/steering tube removed also.

Found one example of a folded TSR on the net
