Finally got my new Dahon MU SL
After waiting a month and having two delays, I was finally able to pick up the bike yesterday from Winstanleys in Wigan.

Apparently this is the first batch of 2008 MU SL’s in the UK. I asked for them to build the bike up for me and I’m glad that I did as there was a part missing from the box (bearing bush)…… about an hour and 30 minutes later I handed over the cash and took the bike home
Once home and after a quick read through the owners manuals I set off at 7pm for a ride…took the country lanes to the main railway station at Hooton and then found myself fancying a pint in the pub opposite so I folded the bike and asked if I could bring in the bike, the bar staff had no problem with this. I then rode home and ended up covering about 9 miles.
I am VERY impressed and pleased with this bike, it looks great, handles well, is quick and lightweight @ 19.4 lb… I’m sure that it is taking a lot less effort with this bike compared to my other 29lb folder (or am I just getting fitter?). The design is well thought out and it folds and holds together just fine with those magnets. The skinny kojack slicks obviously transmit some vibration from any rough tarmac but it is in no way uncomfortable. I noticed that the specs have changed for 2008 and Dahon have omitted the pantour front hub. Once home I lowered the handle bars to the lowest setting and spent the rest of the evening watching TV and admiring my new bike… those wheels are awesome!
This morning I had to call into work. I could have driven the 14 miles but despite the weather being rather breezy I opted for the bike & train, so rode to Hooton again (even though my local station is only 1/3 mile away from home) and then caught the train into Liverpool. On the return journey I used the train only to cross the river and then (for the fist time ever) I rode all the way home! It was hard work with a head wind but at least I know I can do it. Called into Cycle Surgery and bought one of these lightweight bottle cages https://www.cyclesurgery.com/ProductD...5-58532e3daa00
Shop staff where impressed with just how light the MU SL is.
I will try and get some picture of the bike up tomorrow.
So far I’m really pleased
