I guess it’s only the minority of countries that can deal with public nudity. In Finland we have the sauna culture and it’s no big deal for Finns to be naked in front of strange people (of the same sex at least) regardless of how we look like. I’m a fitness swimmer and every time I go for a swim I also have sauna. Men and women have their own departments. Sauna is for relaxing, there everyone is equal, it’s almost a sacred place for us, and in sauna everyone is supposed to be naked. As people from other countries have moved to Finland there are more of those who are ashamed of their bodies (?) and don’t undress even in sauna – I feel it’s an insult for our sauna tradition. BTW about ten years ago there was a BBC film group making a program about Finland and they also zoomed in the Swimming Stadium sauna where me and about 10 other men were sitting naked in 90°C steam. So - you may have seen me naked.
I believe that naked bike ride is justified because it can promote body acceptance, make most of the spectators happy and remind people how beautiful and fragile human body is compared to machines.
IMO those guys in the San Francisco naked bike ride with rubber bands around their balls are a little pathetic – they can’t approve their bodies as they are.

I doubt it.

The reports would have said that it was a large man on a tiny bike, if it had been.

I don't have an issue w/ the naked cycling, but I do take umbrage with the faux idea/image of unconventional free spirited rebels ruining their nudity with helmets. I'm sorry but it's lame. I also think these types of events should take place in the winter so we know who's really got the balls to ride nude

Just a stat to put some issue in perspective.

in 2014

Portland - Over 9000 riders
London - Over 2000
Chicago - Over 2000

I don't have all the stats, but I know that Austin, TX has a WNBR. Then again Austin is the Texas equivalent of Portland.

I'm not offended by nudity, but at the same time don't feel the need to put on a display. Be honest with yourself as to what it is. A pathetic attempt to get a smattering of attention. Don't give me the 'it's natural' schtick. It's also natural to poo, but the people who do it on the sidewalk aren't the most well-adjusted lot, are they?
I could not have said it better. Its your typical weak, "on the outside looking in" attempt to say to the rest of the world "Look at me. I'm not just some schmuck begging for attention, I'm a naked schmuck begging for attention." Pretty sad actually, that a person would feel they needed stoop to something like this to be noticed.

Sunscreen come with a Wide Roller applicator ?

for those who have No History memory , the Original Theme was to call attention to the vulnerability
of riding a Bike , in a crowded world remade around driving cars and trucks ..

Is that still a highly visible theme, or sidelined now that they have enough people to not have to make an excuse?

No one has brought that up until now. It's all about showcasing people in various states of undress.

seems like raising awareness about pollution, etc. is a highly visible theme according to the events website.

Can you post some pics of the Mini's rack installation? I have a Mini and would like to compare your rack with mine. Thanks.
