Tikit Rain Bike

I find I stay drier and cleaner on my Tikit than any other bike I own [even though they all have fenders]. I assume it must be a combination of the geometry of the small wheel & fender plus the higher rotational speed of the tire surface. I was going to add a longer mud flap to the Tikit's front fender, but it doesn't seem to need it.

Anyone else prefer their folder as a rain bike?

I wish there was a full length rear fender available for the Tikit. The front stays reasonably dry (although I think that the Berthoud fenders on my other bikes are even more effective), but the rear is very short and sends spray everywhere.

This is more of Planet Bike's issue than Bike Friday's. Planet Bike targets their small wheel fenders at the recumbent market, not folders, and doesn't make a 16" rear fender.

Alex when you say the rear sends spray everywhere do you mean on riders behind you or are you getting water off the rear wheel when riding?

On riders behind me and all over the drivetrain, stays, and rear brakes. You can tell that it is water coming from the road because it is full of dirt and grit. My chain gets washed of oil pretty quickly after a rain ride too, and that doesn't happen on my bikes with better fenders.

The fender isn't long enough in the front (which would help the drivetrain) or the rear (which would help riders behind me).
