You 'gotta love the Raleigh Vektar - The Delorean of bikes lol!
[I didn't know they had an SA three speed in the back]

10 points to anyone that can repurpose all the electronic gizmos and do a neat retrofit onto a Twenty!

Goshdarnit! This one went for £36! It ended 11 this morning - thought it was 11 tonight.

had 2 of them, at the same time

got one at an auction for £8
then got another in a part exchange for a mountain bike.

they were good bikes.
but sold them to a collector from near aberdeen.
I got £20 each for them and my 2 RSWs.

Theres a man on the Raleigh Grifter forum thats keen on them.

The Mark2 Vektar had single speed

That's worth knowing. I'm definitely on the lookout for one, purely for the wheels, and it would be devastating to end up with a SS.

mulleady 07-28-08 02:49 AM

Mad totally mad lol!

How big is your garage SB?

Sammyboy 07-28-08 02:53 AM

Fairly big, but stuffed with bikes. I'll have to make some decisions at some point. The more projects I complete, the more of a worry it is that the bikes at the back can't be easily got out. Whilst they're "one day" projects, it doesn't matter, but once they become riders, I wanna ride them.

You will need a warehouse soon lol! :D

Sammyboy 07-28-08 05:08 AM

Notice there are no folders at all in that garage! I kept my R20 and the two cheapie folders I bought in Spain in my shed. Then they got stolen. Now there are approximately the same number of full size bikes in there (different ones, though), plus a Raleigh 20, a Downtube Mini and a Downtube IXFS. I hate to be bored.....

mulleady 07-28-08 05:26 AM

Lol!

So many bikes so little time..........

griftereck 07-29-08 10:50 AM

hey the silver anniversary chopper ....SE model
has cast mag wheels on a 3 speed hub

Might have difficulty getting one at all
and will be expensive

LittlePixel 07-29-08 11:05 AM

I think that it's about time we set up a sticky 'Pics of your shed/basement/garage' thread to see the full horror of everyone's bikecaves... :)

Sammyboy 07-29-08 11:20 AM

I'd never kill a silver jubilee chopper fot its wheels, it's a thing of beauty. A Vektar, on the other hand, is an abomination.....

Sammyboy 07-29-08 03:03 PM

Look at this thing. You couldn't dismantle that, could you? And you'd never find a matching 20" front wheel even if you did.....

just make a cardboard cut out of a back wheel.
So it looks the same sitting on the mantlepeice.
No ones likely to ride an SE much.

So you could use the wheel on a more deserving bike
