Non Folding Raleigh 20 in Purple on UK eBay

I'm telling you, if this folded, I'd be all over it. Purple! Looks like a generator hub as well. Shame they didn't do 20's with the FW four speed.

That's a lot of crap to take to the tip just to get that 20!

If it wasn't for the prohibitive shipping to get it over to this side of the pond I'd snap it up also. That is an uncommon color..

gdh81 07-19-08 07:38 PM

Its "Joker" purple. Sick.

phatatude 07-19-08 08:42 PM

That is one Phat Folder!
Listen! Do you smell something?
I think I've gotta go change me nickers...

R-20's : Yep, that's your girlfriend on my bike :)

Should be new postings soon. Keep an eye out...

Interestingly, the Aussie R20 non folders have narrower and more elegant mudguards, both of mine do anyway, IMHO it's a much nicer look.

BTW, the prices of R20s has risen markedly in Oz over the past year or so....is that Jur's and my fault?

Sammyboy 07-20-08 02:51 AM

They've been on the rise here, but I think they're falling again, at least for the non-folders. I'm hoping that economic doom and gloom will allow me to snaffle lots of nice things for cheap!

good luck buying even MORE projects sammy :D :roflmao2:

mulleady 07-20-08 04:15 AM

Here's a scarey thought. Sammyboy buys this purple R20 and uses it for its next naked bike ride :D

phatatude 07-20-08 04:38 PM

Cant ride this twenty naked, It has a White seat :)

Sammyboy 07-21-08 02:50 AM

I wash my bottom, thankyou very much. Nakedness is probably not for those who prefer to leave their nether regions foul and fecund!

This one is identical to how mine was in every tiny detail down to the dynamo, front & rear light, mudguards and even the bell!

Sammyboy 07-21-08 06:48 AM

I do need a frame as the basis for my dual-drive, 24" wheel project......

Funny how awhile back, this R24 project was touted by a few of us, but nobody has yet produced the finished goods. :deadhorse::deadhorse2:

phatatude 07-21-08 08:59 PM

I think half of tht might be that "The Winter is for buildin' bikes, The summer is for Ridin'". I know the closest to being done is Lil' Pix, and he like me sounded to be pretty swamped with work this season.

R-20's : Old Steel, New Ideas...

Sammyboy 07-21-08 11:45 PM

I've not even got the frame, never mind the rims and fork. I'm also going to have a challenge when it comes to brake bridge time, since my welding is shocking, and I can't braze at all. Nevertheless, I remain characteristically confident.....

LittlePixel 07-22-08 05:54 AM

Mine is nowhere near being done! Hhaha - A primed frame maketh not a finished velo! ;)
I need to start trawling the 'Bay for some vintage campag gruppo bits for mine at some point but I haven't really been in the zone.
And find someone that'd braze on new steel. (bridges, downtube gear bosses, derailleur hanger)
Someone to chrome the fork... The list goes on and on!

mulleady 07-22-08 07:27 AM

Hi LP long time no see!

So many bikes and so little time eh? :P

Sammyboy 07-22-08 09:44 AM

I don't need bosses (only an RD anyway, and I'll probably get a bar-end for that. Actually, I think I've got one....). I do need bridges, and I'll need to make a determination as to whether it's heresy to put my ex pro team Dura Ace RD with the drilled jockey wheels on with an adaptor claw. I think financial probity will encourage me that it doesn't matter......

stevegor 07-22-08 05:55 PM

I'm committing heresy for my R24 project......I'm not using a Raleigh frame  but a 24" frame of identical design, (And JUR approves...I think?), so I bypass the BB tpi problems, have more cockpit room etc etc.

As for welding, I'm fortunate in that my 16yr old son is good at it, and he did a top job brazing the Vbrake bosses onto my wife's R20.....lucky for me he's doing that 2yr engineering course at school which includes building the competition racing recumbent, I'd offer his services to you fellas, but the costs!!!

griftereck 07-23-08 11:11 AM

I gave up on my R24 as my welding wasnt too good

have to try again.
