Hello my fold up buddies out there.
I want to order the MUSL 08 online. I live in new york city.I have spoke with Brands cycle.
they quoted me $ 1,079.99 with free shipping to New Jersey no tax.
Is that the best I can do.
I look forward to some advice.
Nice choice of bike. That is quite a good price. Be careful chipping away for every last $ because some dealers go down in service as they go down in price. It might be worth contacting Thor on these forums or through his website www.thorusa.com to see what he can do. All I know is he is renowned for his service on here and that's important too. Some dealers don't check and service the bike properly and simply dispatch it straight in the box from Dahon. I'm not saying Brands do that as I'm based in the UK and also am not qualified to comment on US dealers! What can seem like a few $'s saved can often end up being wiped out or increased if you aren't technically minded and need to have a new bike properly tuned at a LBS.
Whatever the case good luck with your purchase. I've test ridden this bike and she's a real beauty and looks cool too!
I will call Thor this morning.I spoke with Brands Cycle.
Brand's told me if I had the bike shipped it would cost $1,079.99 free shipping no taxes.
That if I needed adjusting there would be a charge if I brought it back to the store.
They said If I purchased the bike at the store they would charge me $1,119.00 plus tax.
then making any adjustments needed would be free of charge.
Since I live in New Jersey and Manhattan N.Y.C. and Brand's is in Long Island about 40 min train ride.
I called my LBS in n.y.c and they told me they would charge me $30.00 to adjust and check it out.
So the plan was to have it shipped and then bring it to the LBS for tuning.
Yes talk to Thor I am sure he can give you a better service. I never dealt with him directly but the positive feedback on the guy is relentless on here lol! Forums tell a lot of truths in terms of statistical frequency.
Do check out the Dahon Jetstream P* as a final contender too. He appears to have a 2007 one in stock and they are still stae of the art. I just suspect this bike might edge the SL out if you ride on some rougher roads as part of your regular round. Don't get me wrong Mu SL VS Jetstream P8 is a dead heat for different reasons. Both are very fine bikes!
