Anyone have any experience using the Brompton parts warranty?
 

My rear mudguard appears to have snapped in two right around the brake bridge. There are also some cracks in the fender at the back near the little wheel thingy. I tried to duct tape it back together, but it really doesn't want to hold. Both parts are still attached (one to the brake bridge and the other with the stays) and the bike is still rideable, but it's kind of a pain in the ass. Whenever I unfold it I have to yank on the back half to keep it from interfering with the wheel.

Anyone know if this would even qualify under the Brompton parts warranty? I've had the bike for just over a year. The breakage happened in the course of everyday use, I didn't throw it off a cliff or anything.

Has anyone here had any parts replaced under warranty? If so, what was your experience and how did you go about doing it? I can't bring it back to the store that I bought it from, seeing as the shop is in Oregon and I'm a couple thousand miles away.

If your bicycle has a manufacturing defect we will replace the defective part free of charge if we are notified within five years (in the case of the frame) or two years (in the case of other parts) from the date of first purchase of the bicycle.

The Brompton is for use on roads and well-made paths. It is not designed for cross country riding: this can overstress the frame, and anyway the tyres and wheels are unsuitable<<<<<<

I suspect if you walked into the Brompton factory, they would probably give you a new mudgard for free. However, shipping you a new one from the UK could cost them over $100.00 USD!

The warranty is only for defective products. There was nothing defective about your fender and the breakage is due to excessive use. Sorry to say that but you'll have to shell out for new ones. You can buy them here for $50.00 dollars plus shipping. A bargain!

A rear mudguard is about $25 at SJS ... a great place to get mail order B parts. They ship by Royal Mail (post) and it takes 7-10 days for far away dests. Very user friendly folks there for foreign orders.

Dahon Steve is right I'd say the fenders or as we call them mudguards broke under excessive use and it's just best to purchase the rear from somwhere like SJS as bangkok suggested. I notice you can buy the rear on its own for little more than $25 plus shipping of around $12. See below I did a dummy run based on a US zip code.
