Brompton's New Products Announcements

Here is the PDF pages of the new products for 2009. The Brompton company will be releasing the announcements of their proposed improvements of their models in September of the given year and the actual release of the new accessories/components and bikes on January 1 of the New Year. The following link is worth your time to visit if you are a present Brompton owner planning a purchase of upgrades, a new one, or even a used Brompton in the future:

Thanks for putting up the PDF file FF. I think though that Somnatash made a thread about the improvements here.

Still no significant weight savings on new models. The new wider ratio gears are nice for someone buying a new Brommie but hardly worth the upgrade for an existing owner of a 6 speed like myself. They still insist on using those awful dual shifters despite constant feedback on this. I'm more curious myself about the new luggage bags as I'd like to consider a stylish but useful one for business purposes with more storage than the current brief case option.

Again very conservative and minor improvements on an otherwise great folder.

These upgraded are welcome. I think the new seat looks good. So the S handlebar is going to be wider, but what about the handle post ? is it going to be longer ? means more upright riding position ?

Does anyone know if the Schwalbe Big Apple tires available for the Brompton ?

Thanks for posting this. I like the new leadership's candor. Esp. when they talk about the old saddle:

"The standard PU saddle's principal attributes are its light weight and and economical cost; unfortunately, this is reflected in a design that is ill suited to being used as a handle and that, frankly, looks so cheap that it brings down the image of our whole bike range." (emphasis mine)

Bravo! Tell it like it is.

It is interesting that they had Sturmey manufacture a custom wider range 3 speed to go with complicated dual shifter for the 6 speed instead of going with the Sturmey 8.

It might mean that even the new wide range Sturmey 8 is not yet ready for prime-time.

I have read it myself. Somnatash was was linking the Breaking News to our community. This link is to the Brompton's own official announcements.
