    Crank painting

Is there any home DIY solution to painting cranks that'd be reasonably durable? I got some second-hand ultegra cranks and it'd be nice if they were black to match the rest of my bike.

Suggestion - forget black. The best finish I've ever found is to polish alloy really bright and finish with a good polish.

It is easy to keep it looking good. The only finish I have found on a black crank that stays put is that on Middleburn cranks, and even that wears through.

Alternatively blackboard paint is very matt black and although it wears off quickly, it retouches nicely.
