Dahon Speed P8 tours small Japanese island
I drug my foldie on a business trip with me and did an island tour on it. I threw up a craptacular cheesy blog page with a couple crummy pictures.
The real deal however was a blast and EXACTLY why I bought a folding bike. For the mere reason that it's portable and allows me to go places and do things that I'd otherwise never see from behind windshield glass.

Nice trip. I was wondering, was this a mini-touring event which you squeezed inside your biz trip? The first picture showed a luggage, but the rest didn't... where did it go?
Nice journal though, keeps me alive to the dreams I have with my Speed!

Luggage was in the hotel. I got to work and it was obvious around lunch time we were floundering and going to be floundering for quite some time so I took off and zipped around the island a couple times and came back to work.

Nice post/pics.
We visit the island annually during the lilly festival in late Apr/early May.
The thousands of lilly's in bloom at the lilly-fields are quite a site!
Did you get a chance to climb the mountain on the island? (Ie jima tacchu)
The view from the top is just breath taking.
After seeing your pics, I'm looking forward to visiting there again!
Domo & otsu kare.

Yeah, I've been on the mountain and to the lilly fields many times. A couple years back I lived on the island for about 6 weeks doing a project on the US range. I bet I've probably been to Ie Shima 15 or 20 times since I've been here.
I have to go back over in a few days. I may take the bike again. I have about an hours worth of work to do. If I get over on the first ferry I can haul a** over to the range and get it done and leaves me a few hours before the last ferry to ride the island again.

Nicely appointed Speed P8 for touring---fenders, rack, Thudbuster. I have a rear fender only on mine right now, and the rack is removed, but I am gonna put it back on. I've been riding all winter with a backpack, but think it's high time I started lugging my laptop et al on the rack with warmer weather coming. Thanks for sharing your pics!
