New rider question
Hello all,
I've been lurking for a while and recently got a used Dahon D7 2006 model from ebay which is really nice. One thing I've found however is that the latch for the front wheel post is really stiff - it sometimes hurts to force it undone. Is this normal? The main frame latch is far easier in comparison. Thanks Jason |
About a 10-15 lbs of pressure should be good for a quick release. I keep a guesstimated 15 pounds on my wheel's quick release and about a 10 pound for the hinges on the actual bike. I notice some folders that have lighter QRs but I'm paranoid of my frame hinges coming loose as I ride. I find that a slightly tight QR adds stealth on the bike by making less noise.

Thanks. Its difficult to visualise how much pressure I'm exerting. I looked up the manual and found out how to change the pressure. Its loosened a little now and certainly not the hand killer it once was.
I've noticed from the manual that there should be a black collar which slides around and prevents accidental release of the latch on the handlebar post. Mine is missing. I presume these might be available as spare parts. |
